Mizuno fans....sell me on their irons
murphmjm replied to finoky's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
http://www.titleist.com/historical_c...ails.asp?id=54 grab a set of those and you cant go wrong! All kidding aside just go to the store pick out all the diff blades and hit them side by side, whatever feels best to you go for it, don't try to sell yourself on a brand, sell yourself on how you hit them. Don't look at what they are either, for the mizunos you can probably tell by the grip but grab a cpl types so you don't automatically know which model it is. -
That just confirms my hatred for him as a new england fan was just all of these years.

for that kind of $ i would recommend trying some cape cod golf courses (not close to ct but still!). The only one i have experience with is the Dennis Highlands (pines is closed for winter), its a fantastic course for the $. There are many courses down the cape and most of them stay open all year round due to the differing climate being so close to the ocean. Copious amounts of old people wouldn't be there unless they had golf all year round, so it can't be that bad!

If your going to be heading over to marlborough forekicks i would reccomend calling ahead, i was driving by today thinking of stopping in and called, they said they were not open for golf until after 12 due to a soccer event. So call ahead if your going to be driving any sort of distance to get there (damn 15 min drive across town for nothing!)

http://www.wildewoodwoodcreek.com/go...woodwoodcreek/ is a course in elgin/columbia sc, the dues are posted on the site and they have another site for the course real-estate side of things... http://www.woodcreekfarms.com/ If you have some places in mind just send them an email saying your a prospective member for the club etc. Most of the time when you do this they send you over the price sheet for golf and anything else. It's their job to sell you so you'll probably end up getting much more info than you need.

I've had my driver for 8 years now at least, only reason I have to change it is so i can keep an official mga handicap this year, otherwise i wouldn't. I don't see the point in buying new drivers every year, the quicker the "its the equipment not me" idea gets out of the head the better, for me anyways, everyone's different!

http://www.callawaygolfpreowned.com/...efault,sc.html you should be able to pick something up there cheap that has the correct flex for you. If you don't mind your clubs looking like you actually use them then why not buy used.

wish i knew that earlier haha, no more 20 min drive to hit balls! Went to east coast today, mats were much better than in southboro, still hard but thats cause of the cold mostly. Its way to cold to be outside to be going to the range! I'll have to check out the marlborough forekicks this week, good find masshacker/safetrip!

if you feel confident using your irons then go with that, but why not give the hybrid a try on a practice round or two hitting both back to back 3i and 3hybrid? I tried using a 3 hybrid for a while but just couldn't hit it like my irons so got rid of it. But that's my individual experience, maybe you will absolutely fall in love with the hybrid and grab a few more. I also shoot around 90's and really haven't considered adding hybrid's, although if it works for you why not.

i think the one in Marlborough is just for soccer unfortunately

Went over to the southboro range yesterday. The balls were rock hard and the mats so hard my clubs were sparking, don't think ill be going back till the grass opens.

Looking to get my girlfriend into the game . . .

Not sure if this would be an option for you but are there any decent par 3 courses in your area? She might be more comfortable playing a course like that; and if its a decent course the yardages will vary so you can get a good workout with mostly all your irons. That's how most of the women I know learned how to play. Otherwise lessons and a nice set of irons that she feels confident with would be a great place to start. -
can't really go wrong with any of the brand names. Try them out at the store or a range and get what feel's best to you.

I've had my footjoys for years and love them, you might want to check out myjoys. http://thesandtrap.com/apparel/footj...ing_and_review

What fairway woods to get?
murphmjm replied to Addicted2Golf's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I love my callaway steelhead plus 3wood, the clubhead is small enough to give you some good confidence off the deck. It's probally an early 2001/2ish model, i know its an older club but i have no thoughts of replacing it after all these years when the rest of my bag got a big upgrade this winter. -
thanks for all your suggestions. Going to head over to golfers warehouse today and try them out, i'll let you know how it works out.

I love bass fishing, i take my kayak out on the lake here in town just tossing a popper hoping for a bite. Can have some fun with light tackle getting decent sized bass (for mass!). Yea they might not be big compared to down south but still lots of fun.

I've not been to the indoor range in hudson, i checked out the website but id rather just go hit outside as it looked pretty small. If your recommendation earlier was about the golfrite in hudson don't think i'll be going there anytime soon. As for Marlborough the only real driving range is over by the junkyard on rt20, its awful and smells of garbage in the summertime. I'm pretty sure that the range by the rotary in berlin/salmon pond mall area is still around, not sure about the winter.

i know this post is from june but if your still looking around for next season why not try the south carolina junior golf association - http://scjga.org/ . They have a list of courses that give you a discounted rate with your scjga card. I think it runs till your 18 as well, my sisters a member and plays in a few of their tournaments.

sounds like the 99$ deal is the way to go! and yes, Marlborough CC. I've lived in Marlborough most of my life and have never played the course. I finally got back into golf this year after living in Miami and not being able to afford to play. Started just going to Berlin to get back into my swing now its time to play a real course again. Are the greens over at Marlborough as wicked as my friend has been telling me, if so i'll be in for a real treat. I worked at charter oak for a summer and we double cut the greens lots of times for the weekend, that course was nice but a bit wide open, although the 12th green is hell on earth :P

Thats my problem with the erc2, i can hit it 260-280+ when i'm on and striking the drives flush otherwise its a dead shot that wont work. The sound is amazingly loud so i guess going from there that wont be a big issue on any of the newer drivers. I saw the highbore on rockbottom for 99$ seems like a good deal. My sister recommended the taylor made burner driver as well so i'll give that a look. I don't mind less distance, id just like some more control compared to the erc2 (which seems could be everything!) ty for the input chilly.

currently i work for the state police crime lab in ma, makes going back to finish school all that more appealing!

So I plan on getting back into serious golf and need a new driver. My old driver was the callaway erc2 (yea its non conforming but tell a 14yr old kid to pick a driver and that's what I ended up with). I'd like to find something that doesn't look like the spaceship in close encounters of the third kind. With that being said are there any specific models i should look at? Ultimately I''m looking for a few suggestions. Thanks for any help/input

for the memberships, i can just buy the 99$ 16 reg buckets and be able to hit the practice area all year? Planning on joining mcc this year so not looking to spend a very large amount before dues come but definitely want to keep hitting balls through the winter.

Thanks for this info! Will be there this weekend if it doesnt snow, again. ha
