How to Grip a Golf Club, Commonalities of a Functional Golf Grip
avmech replied to mvmac's topic in Swing Thoughts
Ok, so I did two things different from my normal grip: extend the left thumb and not have the right thumb down the grip but rather, as explained above, just the contact described above. Hit some practice balls in the yards with my 7 iron. Immediate improvement!!!! My hat is off to you Mike :beer: -
Been driving the wife nuts since 1976........that count?

Best Courses in West Palm Beach Area 2013
avmech replied to vdelo's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
I have played North Palm, President, and Winston Trails. Winston trails was back in the late 1990s IIRC. Did not like it, tight fairways, just off the fairways the grass was about 3 inches and you would lose your ball in it. President is a fun, old course. I am partial to North Palm as it has elevation changes, rare down here. Have only played it after Nicklaus redid the course. Abacoa I played several times when it first opened about 15 years ago, guest of one of the builders, did not really like it back then, again about 10 years ago, was so-so about it. Came back last year using the driving range a bunch of times when I was recovering from rotator cuff surgery. Thought to myself, it has been a while, maybe I should give it a go again, as the course has matured. Played it just before Thanksgiving, it was in great shape, except the range was closed as they were rebuilding it after 15 years. Now all is open, played it yesterday, was great. Back when it opened, the "club house" was a small trailer located where the food shack at the turn is nowadays. Given my choice it would be either North Palm or Abacoa, with President third. The others you listed I have not played, or do not remember playing them. Have played 3 of the PGA national courses, they are good too, but the best one I played a lot was Cypress Links, a very close friend was a member there. Awesome course, now called The Dye Preserve (private) -

Played Abacoa yesterday, it is in great shape. Think it is $105 per, 11:39 tee time, one of my vendors footed the bill. -

President is good, played it last month. Beware the ducks................on 15, we teed off, and we go to our balls. On the other side of the bridge is a bunch of ducks. Anyway, they take off, cracking jokes with my bud who is driving, next thing I know is I get a really hard slap on the right side of my face (enough to split my lip). Damn duck flew into my face sideways, then ends up flapping on the seat between us then on the floor by the pedals. Both of us are like Keystone Cops, cart is still moving.........the other 2 guys are behind us falling out of their cart they are laughing so hard! Too bad they didn't take a movie of it, they saw the duck heading our way.....it was totally hilarious No ducks were harmed during this episode, he flew off, a little sideways at first but he shook it off. -

G4, 2 G450s, a G650 in about a year/year and a half, and possibly a G550 to replace the 4. And yea, I am the head maintenance guy, doing it over 20 years, doing Gulfstreams almost 30 years, from G1 on up. Also have family that lives on Wilmington Island, they used to live on Tybee.

Nice! Next lower I get will either be a Spike's with maybe a .204 Ruger upper, or a Tactical Machining for something .308 based (or something that has the same case base as the .308). Thinking about a 6.4x47 Lapua, probably will convert a Remy 700 to that as the AR platform is hard on the brass and Lapua brass is not cheap!! The 6.8 is a Kotonics upper, 1 in 11 inch, SPC II chamber 4 groove rifling. The owner of Kotonics (no longer in business thanks to a vendor screw up) was one of the top developers of rifles that could use high pressure rounds developed by Silver State Armory (combat or tactical loads) with no excess pressure problems ( the 1/11 4groove rifling). Sits on an Anvil Arms lower I built. One of my favorites.........

Check out North Palm Beach GC on US 1 between Northlake Blvd and PGA Blvd. Atlantis is a good old course, one of my favorites. Abacoa GC in Jupiter off Donald Ross Rd There are several county run courses, of which Park Ridge and Okeeheelee are both good, not pricey, link in a previous post above -
Let me think about this for a minute NO! People I know and that I know will take good care of my spares, yes, they can borrow them no charge. Otherwise a resounding no.

Back to my usual workout, little of everything. Back because I was not working out due to an ankle problem in my subtalar joint cartilage from an old injury. Now wearing a brace, but hitting the gym nevertheless. Also riding my bicycle as much as possible.

Moppy hope yours is a quick and uneventful recovery. I am up the road in Jupiter. Had two bouts of no golf, or anything else for that matter: heart attack in June 2012 and rotator cuff surgery last October. The surgery was the "killer" as it was 5 months before I could play. That said, 3 weeks after surgery doc said to practice putting, then about 3 weeks later, practice chipping. Then about 3 months, start swinging a club slowly building up to speed, with no ball. When he said I was cleared for holf, he said hit the range at least 3 times before playing. Got that done in 3 days and played 18 on the fourth. Just do what the doc says, be careful, take it easy, time will pass fast enough and you will be back out. Good luck!!
