Ok. You guys win. I'm dead wrong. Swing away....
-
Sorry, young man. Obviously you think you know more than people that do it for a living...Maybe this is just a forum for weekend warriors like yourself to discuss swing tips that anyone can hear from their playing partners...And not a learning website with professional advice . But at 26, I thought the same way as you do. I totally understand. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
-
I see your point. I just do not agree. That's ok, though. I'm not always right. And either are you. PGA member?
-
Is it possible to see a video? Obviously I am quite reluctant, (at extreme annoyance to other posters around here lol), to offer hurtful and incorrect swing advice. We really need to be standing on the tee together. Ask one of these pros you took a lesson from to look at you for one quick second concerning this "regrip." He should have no problem looking at you for a moment...considering you have already paid for his services in the past...don't believe everything you read around here..

Build Your Swing Around Your Wedges
OJsakila replied to The Recreational Golfer's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Classic golf practice starts from the cup backwards, ending at the tee box. You are thinking fine. Keep it up. Your driver is a "swing-fault-magnifier." How you hit balls from the tee, (with a driver, of course), will show you the largest errors in your swing..this is basic math. The further the ball can go, the further it can go left or right as well. Different theorists will tell you differently about how to practice but that does not make it wrong neccessarily...however, your thought processes are fine here. Good luck. Keep trucking. -
It is. Go find a PGA pro. Be careful of the term, "too loose," as it would seem to denote really gripping the club too tight...It's a double edged sword...Go find a PGA pro.
-
Google top 100 pga teachers and find one in your area...You should demand video analysis, as well....Good luck...you are quite a naturally talented golfer..KEEP WORKING HARD!
-
Wow. You've got a great swing, lil' Bro! Don't worry about power...Wait on the growth spurt! lol.... Keep up the good work and please DO NOT take everything you hear on this site as God's word. Keep doing what you're doing..Obviously you have had some lessons and I would recommend you continue to do so....You've got a bright future... As far as a work out schedule...help yourself. It's a good idea. Good luck.

Did I say anything about buying new clubs? I did not. Sorry if you misunderstood me. It takes about 12 seconds to bend a hosel to a correct lie angle.. Are you a PGA member? Remember what your job is as a member, if you are one. I'd be glad to write the PGA a letter, if you like... I'm sure they would be happy to enlighten you... again.

pitch and chips: no loft help please
OJsakila replied to USA 79S's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
You are correct. There are ONLY TWO THINGS that cause fat and thin shots....hands behind the clubhead and loss of spine angle.... -
You need proper equipment. To listen to these jackleg hacks around here with their swing advice is the WORST thing you can do with misfit clubs. Quite obviously, these particular clubs do not fit you. You can do several things besides buying new clubs. The lie angles can be adjusted and shaft additions can be added to your clubs. They could be shortened too, but that's not your problem with these clubs. DO NOT spend a large amount of time with these misfit clubs. It will only handicap you...not to mention the horrid swing compensations you will acquire trying to hit a decent ball. Please consult your local PGA pro. Please DO NOT continue to listen to these fools with their swing advice around here...fix the first problem before you attempt to fix something else. Go see your PGA pro first . This is my business. This is what I do. I am 100% correct. Anybody that disagrees with me is not worth talking to. Find me one single PGA pro that tells you any different and I'll fly down there and fit you myself. This is a forum...don't take everything you read to heart...lol
-
Yes this is wrong. It's called "re-gripping." Improper grip. Make sure you are using a proper grip. Consult your PGA pro.
-
All you guys may be right but I'm afraid you are diagnosing domino number 5, 12, 56, or whatever...As we all (should) know, one compensation leads to another....we must first deal with the fist domino. Set Up. This guy must first address his set up. The first thing that comes to mind is that it's possible we're improperly fit. Have we outgrown our clubs? Your irons sit flat at setup and you appear to really struggle to address the ball properly. When was the last time you were fit? I'm reluctant to offer swing advice in this situation.

Yes, it's the shanks, AGAIN...
OJsakila replied to MikeLowry5's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Simply put, improper swing path is the only thing that causes a shank. Do not attempt to stand "further away from the ball," as that will only cause weight to be applied to the toes causing yet more shanks as you "fall into the ball" through impact.... Just correct your swing path, thats all. -
A proper grip insures your "flat wrist." ...99.9% of the time..
-
Nice analysis... wish there was a ball, though...lol
-
Nice swing. Replace the cleats in your shoes....I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you have worn cleats and not too much weight on your heels...your forward foot, (left), completely re-adjusts thru impact. Just about any sort of miss can occur. Your tempo appears to be..."kill it!" Exactly where is the tempo? Down the line video would help...also, next time during any sort of video analysis, down-the-line or face-on, try and insure that the camera angles are straight and level as focused on the hands and right in between the hands and legs on down-the-line shots... What I mean is that if you are shooting face on like example, the camera is substantially higher than your hands are....correct that next time..:) Also, your head apperars to NEVER move. Please stop that. If you are loading properly, your head would have to move back slightly...quit listening to these people talking about "head still, head still", lol

Good ideas on cleaning golf shoes?
OJsakila replied to patriot07's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Polish your golf shoes like you do your dress shoes. Have several pair, don't wear the same pair twice two days in a row, use shoe trees ...do what your Dad taught you to do. -
New to Golf, want to get started
OJsakila replied to Golf Novice's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Reading golf magazines is terrible advice . Ask Johnny Miller. Buy an 8 iron from goodwill and go get a lesson from a PGA Pro. Then worry about buying a "set" of clubs... -
I didn't get the memo - "To Game"
OJsakila replied to Randy4h's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I agree...what a joke. I'm gaming this forum! -
Yea...he worked hard... http://www.obesitylapbandsurgery.com/tecmain.html he hit the button on his mouse.

There is NO substitute for true ball flight. Do NOT buy a club because of only what you saw on a screen. Do not. You have been forewarned. As for bringing a club in to compare... ...DO IT. That's the first smart thing you've said.
-
"There is NO substitute for true ball flight." -OJ Do NOT buy a club if you are hitting it into a screen, (or net). You must be able to see your shot.
-
From God's lips to your ears! There is NO OTHER answer.

Finally got a video of my swing
OJsakila replied to Caddyshack's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
o my goodness you guys are the same...you, too, are flat-footed at impact. Just being in this position stresses your body's natural ability to keep your hands ahead of the ball. You will consistantly hit more fat and thin shots in this position than in any other. You are handicapping yourself and need instruction asap. Gary Player walk=thru drills will rid you of the problem... be forewarned of these posters and their mathmatical sterotypical answers, (obviously quoted elsewhere). Unless it can be explained to you in layan's terms, do not listen...Seek Professional instruction.
