  1. Don't listen to the negativity...it's coming from a bunch of guys who never had a chance in the first place. They are just jealous of your early success. You got yourself to a 7.8 in just a few months. You can do it. I played college baseball and consider myself pretty athletic, but I've been playing and practicing regularly for about 9 months and my best score has been an 87. I'm impressed with what you have done in such little time. Look at Rickie Fowler...he didn't pick up golf all that long ago. He went from a 14 year old dirt bike racer to NCAA golfer of the year as a freshman in 3 1/2 years.

    OK thanks guys.

I just saw a player mark his ball on the fairway...pick it up...and place it back on the fairway. It must be legal. I've never seen this before. I'm assuming you can only do this on the greens or fairways over there. I'm pretty sure it's not legal over here.
  4. Yes, that's it, but you probably have to go into the store to get the $69 price. It may also be a regional sale.
  5. I went to the PGA Tour Superstore today (6/21/2010) and they had the Sun Mountain Zero G stand bags on sale for under $70. As far as I know, this is normally a $180 bag. It might be a regional sale, but if they have them in your area it is worth checking it out.
  6. Check your local golf store...they have things you can use in place of the rubber golf tees.
  7. I "won" a free hybrid for hitting the green on a par 3 at a tournament...the shipping was $29.99 so I didn't get the club.
  8. OK...thanks. I appreciate the info.
  9. Not even the Bridgestone website says anything about the '+' series balls.
  10. What is the difference? I tried searching and couldn't find an answer. Thanks for your help.

  12. If they are really your buddies...they won't be able to 'recall' what happened.
  13. I agree with this.
  14. I personally wouldn't do it. They have these balancing things for sale at Sport Chalet for $40. I have never tried it, but I'm not going to bash you for doing it. It probably only takes a few minutes and who knows...maybe there is an advantage. I would never know though because I don't hit the ball consistently enough to tell one ball from the other much less a balanced ball from a non-balanced ball.
  15. Lots of advise here...but it is falling on deaf ears...the original poster has yet to come back to this thread.
  16. The DriveWear lenses that I recommended above are a type of polarized Transitions lens. They are light brown indoors and dark brown sunlight. Once you try a polarized lens you will never go back to a regular tinted or Transitions lens. Polarization is soooo much more effective at reducing glare that a regular tinted lens. http://www.drivewearlens.com/home.php?flashchange=8
  17. Transitions are not polarized, so they won't reduce glare. Transitions also don't get dark behind the windshield of your car so they are useless for driving. I wouldn't recommend it. I would invest in a separate pair of prescription polarized sunglasses or look into DriveWear lenses by Younger Optics.
  18. I had the complete opposite experience as the OP...I played my first round of golf 20 years ago. However, I have probably only played a total of 15-20 rounds of golf in those 20 years. Recently I decided to take golf more seriously and went to the local PGA Tour Superstore. I bought a $99 membership which included a 30 minute lesson and "all you can hit" in the hitting bays for a full year. The hitting bays have a computer that shows the statistics of each swing (swing speed, club head angle, spin, club path, distance, etc). It also has video cameras so you can see your swing from the front, back, and side. I also watched a lot of golf on TV and tried to pick up on the common swing characteristics and emulate those when I practiced. Before I started practicing I shot a 105 in December '09. I started practicing in January of this year and played my first round of golf since December about two weeks ago and shot an 89. I even had a string of par, par, bogey, birdie, par, par in that round. Keep practicing...I don't think 6 weeks is enough time to show a marked improvement. Plus...you only had one bad round of golf. Try again and see what happens, but this time keep the practice brain on the practice range and just have fun on the course. Don't over-think it and don't give it up. Golf is a great game.
  19. I just ordered 2 dozen AAAAA TP Red and 4 dozen AAAAA Callaway Tour ix. They had a sale going on. Total cost was $75.70. Great deal here.
  20. I'm figuring that I won't get anyone who lives in Phoenix that plays the TP Red and also wants to buy the golfballs now...too many variables, but worth a shot.
  21. I'm thinking about ordering some AAAA TP Red LDP balls from lostgolfballs.com. The shipping is free if I order 6 dozen. However, I don't really need 6 dozen, so if any fellow Arizonans out there want to order and split it 50/50 they would come to about $39 for 36 balls. This is a longshot, but I thought I would give it a try. I am in the Phoenix area.
  22. This is what my initial email stated: I paid $5 at a local charity golf tournament for a chance to win a free SL-1000 hybrid. All I had to do was get the ball on the green on a Par 3 hole. I did that, and received a certificate for a free club, but in order to get the free club I have to pay $29.95 for shipping and handling!!! That shipping charge is way too high unless it is for next day shipping. I wouldn't be surprised if you are making money on these 'free' clubs. What is going on here? It seems very shady.
  23. I like how they tried to place the blame on the charity as if the charity was solely responsible for their shady marketing scam. Give me a break!!!
  24. This was the reply: I appologize if the charity misrepresented the hybrid. To answer your question, we do not make money on the club. We do however make money on the additional items advertised on the website that many of our customers order. If you choose not to redeem your hybrid out of principle, I can certainly understand as it appear that the charity did not inform you well on the offer. ...I did not fix the spelling.
  25. This is great info. Thanks for your reply.
