  1. Thanxs So-Cal , much appreciated ! Its freaking snowing again today @#$%$# !!!!
  2. Any Upro GPS users out there have any of there course mapping requests fullfilled ? I requested a course in my area ' Pike Lake Golf Center ' over a year and a half ago and so far nothing ! The Upro website lists 143 requests for this course but even basic mode is not available . I noticed that a lot of courses are listed as 2.0 or 2.1 which I assume means they have been mapped at least twice . This is frustrating me to no end because I spend a long weekend at this resort every year with my buddies and play four or five rounds of golf without my GPS . As far as I know they map courses on a priority basis according to number of requests, so if any of you members that use the UPRO would add this course to your course request list maybe it will rise high enough on the priority list to get mapped ! I will gladly do the same for any courses you are trying to get mapped . You can find it named ' Pike Lake Golf Center ' Clifford , Ontario , Canada . Post your requests here and we can add each others courses and get them mapped ! Thanks guys
  3. I think you will have much more success hitting straighter drives if you focus on adjusting your swing path rather than setting up your driver for draw bias. Try to practice hitting the ball with an inside path. This will help you with other clubs as well. The improvement you see adjusting your driver will be smaller than you might think and is really only a band aid . I know from personal experience as I play an R7 driver . I keep mine neutral and try to rely on good swing mechanics to keep it straight . Good Luck, and bomb it down there !
  4. Hi guys ! I wonder if I could get a little help from the board as to what I should be looking for as optimum launch angle for a seven iron ,maybe spin rate as well . I have been mulling over purchasing a new set of sticks this spring and plan to use the simulator at Golf Town as a benchmark in comparing the list of clubs I am considering . I have never been fit for clubs before but will try and have this done after I narrow down the list of contenders . I have been playing golf for 14 years now (started late at 32) and this will be my third set of clubs in that period . My first set was a complete starter set, Mizuno Altron , which I was mostly happy with for a while but the woods were poor and I spent my money upgrading the Driver, 3 wood, putter, and wedges .About 5 years ago I bought a used set of Tarlor Made Burner Tour Irons. They are basically a blade I think . They have stiff rifle shafts and I play them well for the most part. The reason I am thinking of a change is that I seem to be struggling more and more with my long irons (3,4,5) and think I could benefit from added forgiveness here , I am not ready to go with hybrids because I like to play a lot of different type of shots out of different situations and don't want to relearn with hybrids. The short list of sticks I am going to try out . Mizuno mx300,Titleist AP1,Callaway Diablo forged, Taylormade R9,Mizuno JPX800pro. If any reading this would care to comment on the pros or cons of the clubs listed I would appreciate that as well . Anyway thanks in advance for any help or tips , Mike
  5. The move should be much more precise than Wii due to the Ps Eye's ability to sense where the controller is .
  6. The same thing happens with my group all the time . It is extra irritating when our four walkers are sandwiched between twosomes in powercarts ! Some of these marshals think that walking a 6500 yd course in anything over 4 hours is reason for them to hound us . We don't use the 4 foot "gimmee" rule like a lot of these ramrods and are trying to shoot a score . I think playing a round in 4-41/2 hours is fine . No way in hell I'm going to run to keep up with cart drivers that want race around 3 hours !
  7. Wow , your my hero tough guy ! Do you work for the morality enforcement force ?
  8. Walked into Sportcheck looking for a pair of hiking shoes . As they now have Nevada Bobs inside the store , could not resist having a look . Walked out with a shiny new Clic gear 3.0 cart . Sweet !
  9. Does anybody know of an accurate formula for carry distance ? With a modern new driver and a good ball I have heard of anywhere between 2.3-3.0 yards per mph of clubhead speed. Any thoughts ?
  10. I just bought the Callaway UPRO on E-Bay for 290 dollars. You can download and use basic mode courses right out of the box . To really enjoy all the great features of this unit you will have to buy credits to download pro mode courses. These are fantastic, they use actual sattelite aerial views of every hole with all yardages superimposed. I bought the 50 course package for 120 $ This GPS also has a feature called" anypoint" which allows you to take a yardage from your position to any point on the hole and from there the next yardage to the green. Great for plotting layups. I would suggest you buy this unit , they give you one "home course" pro download, use the basic mode for now until you can scrape together maybe 80$ to buy 20 pro courses. Good luck !
  11. For me the Taylor made TP Smoke forged blades take the cake .Simply awesome !
  12. I am trying to regain my confidence in my full swing with the driver. I am getting to much fade and am finding myself in trouble off the tee too often. As a result of this , I have been hitting 3 wood or 2 hybrid off the tee a lot . Although I hit a lot more fairways this way, it puts long irons in my hand on approach more than I would like. 3,4,5 irons are the clubs I struggle with the most. My plan of action is an aggressive stretching program. I hope this will relieve the tension I sometimes feel at the top of my backswing and allow a smoother more effortless swing. I also am swinging a weighted club a lot. I leave it on my back deck so whenever I go out to the backyard I see it and swing for awhile. I have also attached a bungee cord about 6 feet up on my fence which I loop my club into, assume the top of my backswing with the cord holding the clubhead there, and rotate my torso away around my spine to work my core muscles. One other thing I am doing is swinging my garden rake[ fan type ] like a driver. This seems to help me practice releasing my wrists back to square and also provides good wind resistance to promote club head speed. I hope all this helps because I hate having my golf buddy's ragging on me for leaving my driver in the bag when I should be launching it out there past them like I am used to doing !
  13. I think both Tiger and Jack are similar in many ways. Both men dominate their competition when playing there best, both seem to rise to the occasion in majors, both hit the ball longer than most of there peers and neither have a weakness in there game. I don't think you can say one or the other is better as they are from different eras. Maybe we will have to wait until Tiger gets to the end of his career and compare his acomplishments to Jack's.
