  1. Nice, mature post.
  2. Forget about getting your letter back. If you and the owner and pro are square then I wouldn't worry. I'd bet there are plenty of people willing to replace the head groundskeeper.
  3. Looks like you've got 2 choices. 1.) do as they suggested - 'Find another place' 2.) make peace you didn't need us to tell you that, though
  4. Your'e not serious with the 3 iron stingers,,,,are you?
  5. To the OP: There seems to be a lot of missing details in your story. What time were you playing? public coure? private course? Sevral incidents or just 2 that you mentioned?
  6. It's like real estate. Local economics trump all. I'm lucky. Just joine a semi-private course in the Chas., SC area for $500 initiation and $200/month. No greens fees/unlimited range balls and play golf a lot more. A lot of courses around here are competing for less players.
  7. I thought slope was calcualted on every score for handicap purposes....home course or not. If so, what is the point of a "home handicap"?
  8. Several things you can do. Option 1 (assuming everyone gives honest handicaps): Seed palyers 1 thru 6. Have seeds 1, 4, 6 play match play agaisnt seeds 2, 3, 5. Seed 1v2 and seed 5 in one 3some and seed 3v4 and seed 6 in another 3some. Seeds 5 and 6 would have to card up after the round. You could adjust the scorecards prior to the round for match play. Meaning if Seed 1 is a 10 handicap and seed 2 is a 12 handicap then seed 2 gets a stroke on the 2 hardest holes. Make it your own little Ryder Cup format over 3 rounds. Theoretically any seed cold play any opponent. Option 2 : Play 3 somes agaisnt 3 some and make each 3some use at least 1-2 scores from each side or round to keep everyone involved. You caould also adjust the scorecard in this match. If you are worried about foot wedges split the teams up among the 3somes and compare cards after the round. Have fun.
  9. I have the same question as double j. The normal calcualtion as I know it; assuming you have 20 rounds is this: (Your score (minus) course rating X 113) / course slope. Example: 88(score) - (course rating)71.1 = (16.9 X 113) = 1909.7 / (course slope)130 = 14.69. When one has 20 scores the best 10 are taken. Anything under 20 scores there is a sliding scale of how many scores are take. Still not sure what the"'home course handicap" is or how to calculate.
  10. In some tournament formats - Yes.
  11. Asuming your handicap is calculated correctly and there isn't some tournament handicapping going on then you simple subtract your handicap from your score to get your net score.
  12. 1.) Playing behind inexcusable slow play 2.) Too many 3 putts 3.) More than 1 bad hole (over double bogey)
  13. good price points and possibly create some price wars = yes. Claiming the golf ball market? = No. not even close.
  14. First off. the course is much easier now than it was in the 90's - early 00's. What still makes it hard beyond the wind is the high possibilty of a good shot beign turned into a terrible lie around the greens and/or just off the fairway. Did you use a caddie?
  15. The rate will depend on time of year. Playing right beofre or after the Heritage will be a lot more. Late fall has the best rates IMO. The key to enjoying your round will be the quality of your fore caddie. I've had a good one and a not-so-good one. have fun
  16. First reply - introduction here. I too suffer from blow up holes. Last round I played was 86. Hit 8 greens; had only one 3-putt; hit two balls OB and left two in the trap. A snowman 8 and a 7 on par 4's will kill a scorecard quickly. I am going to try walking more-carting less. I seem to cool down when walking after a poor shot. Good luck.
