  1. "I can't imagine why you would counsel a 32-HC to practice these finesse shots. A 32-HC does not have the club control to pull off these shots with any kind of consistency. When he gets on the course he's going to duff the first attempt, or skull it across the green, when a simple 7I putting-stroke chip is all he needs." A 7i putting stroke chip is probably not a great idea when there's 8ft of green to work with thats sloping away & the ball is sitting down. My point was not to confuse your practice with all these shot ideas. It's comfort level. The more you practice messed up lies & shots the easier it'll be to save your score the next time you face it in a round. The flop, not so much. That gem only comes out when i've really screwed up. I just read your blog on your last round. Looks like ballstriking & short game are piling up the strokes. Short game-any club you use keep your hands ahead of the clubhead at impact. It'll crispen up your contact. No more blades/thins. Ballstriking-are you tall?
  2. I haven't played a whole lot of mainland courses, but if you make your way over to the island there's some real gems here. First up-Victoria Golf Club It's private & you'll need to call to get it set up, but it's worth it. Such a beautiful heritage course right along the ocean. http://www.victoriagolf.com/Portals/...oto/Hole8B.jpg 2-Bear Mountain. Two Nicklaus 18's. The Mountain course is the tougher & more amusing of the 2. It's got a sweet little 19th hole at the top of the mountain. http://bearmountain.ca/Portals/0/ima...9-1024x768.jpg 3-Gorge Vale-another nice older course with alot of character. 4-Cordova Bay-really nice track. Very good conditioning. I'm sure i'm forgetting some Victoria area courses. There's some nice ones further north up the island as well. Storey Creek, Morningstar, Fairwinds, Duncan Meadows, Crown Isle. We've got fifty plus courses packed onto a 460km long island. If you get a chance to venture a ways outside of Vancouver, there's just a load of beautiful courses to play. Predator Ridge, St Eugenes, Golden, Tobiano, Talking Rock. Golden is a ways out, but is a gem. The town only has about 7000 people & the course is tucked up in the mountain behind them. Very natural. Moose, bear, deer sightings are pretty common. The 2nd hole has the distinction of being my worst scoring hole ever. I love it. http://www.golfgolden.com/?page=38659
  3. Go practice your short game. More specific? Chips, pitches, flops, hooded runners, 50yd runners, 10yd stoppers on the shortside, high dead pitches out of rough, stoppers out of divots, low under trees, high over trees, etc. & putting of course. Personally i love wedge practice. I take my balls & throw them out into wherever they land & try to manufacture good shots out of it. Wayward tee shots are a way of life(tiger, phl, etc). The ability to control the bleeding is the difference between 129 & 80something. How many ob balls a round do you actually hit?
  4. Pay off my debt, the families debt, like the whole family. Just reset everyone to zero. Put a swack away for my kids schooling. I want them to have the best opportunity for success in life. I could say 'gold plated car' or something dumb like that, but it would mean very little to me. A house with a bigger yard & some updated vehicles would be good enough.
  5. I'm a chef, 35, & Canadian.
  6. Near impossible to suggest anything to work on without seeing you swing. Two biggest & easiest are probably keep your head still, & don't swing so hard. Loosen the grip to about a 3/10 & make sure there's no arm or hand tension going back. The natural thing to do when things start going south is to tighten the grip & swing a bit harder which just tenses up the bigger muscles & exagerates the problem. That being said, sometimes the swing just takes a vacation. I had a point after the winter for about 3 weeks where i could barely flight an iron. Then i played in a hit n giggle event & started creaming it again. Weird game.
  7. I didn't take a whole lot away from this book. Except the matchplay stuff. That was pretty amusing.
  8. Yesterday, when i played 3 holes after work i hit a layup 180yd 6i. I usually don't fly it more than 165-170. Just caught it sweet. I felt really loose. I wished i'd had the time to play a full round. But...with the crookedness i experienced off the tee & on the green, maybe 3 holes was a good thing. First time out in...awhile.
  9. I'm a sous chef at a golf course. I have 8 functions in 7 days to pull off. Basically from thurs-mon i should just sleep at work. It'd be quicker. The free golf perk would be nice if i ever got to use it.
