  1. Didnt try that Putting grip, but it sounds funny. I found out that a 12 feet or less Putt can easily be done with the stance fully open, your body completly targeting to the hole and the ball is lying 5 inches away from your right foot. The longer the putt gets the more the ball will go to the left because you cant swing on a perfect line but the aiming on the short ones is much easier for me.
  2. The Ball Type I play at the moment is the "Precept Uri Tri Extra Spin" it is not the newest Ball on the market but i really do like the High Spinrate and the very nice and soft feel of this ball. The only thing that i had to get used to was the deeper sound when you Putt it... But that doesnt really matter to me and the Price (8€) is better then ProV1 and his high priced friends. www.golftestusa.com/balls_fall2002.html
  3. I have a Lob Wedge in the bag and i really like the fact that the ball stops dead where it lands, something i haven't done with my sand wedge yet. The Main Problem is i am not to good at pitching. I always aim to much to the right (I suppose i must have a serious eye problem ) and therefore the "stop dead shots" are only nice to look at but the resulst need to get better.
  4. I suddenly got some money and guess what... I am going to spend it for golf equipment! I dont have woods so I plan to buy some, and really like the Titleist PTs. But before i buy them i wanted to know what you have heard about these woods with a steel shaft on them. I really do love the look of a steel shafted club but on the other hand i am not so sure if it is very clever. The adila shaft will probably be ok. Is there any major diffrence between an adila and steel shaft (the weight obviously)? Is steel more accurate or is the extra length you gain with graphite to valuable? My average swing speed is (only measured with a 4 iron) 93 mph is that to slow for a steel wood? Thx for your help in advance
  5. You are totally right gas_can. It was my fault i wanted some new irons for my birthday so i went to the fitter first and to the pro afterwards which is the wrong way around i suppose The Pro fitted me correct i hope... He must have because i love my new irons (especially the look and feel of a well hit 3 iron ) My swing speed got measured both times: first fitting 78mph second 93mph, so i think the Dynamic Gold R200 is not that bad, a little heavier than the nippon but that is very nice with the short irons.
  6. Do you have to pay money for the "Iron custom fit" you soon will get? If yes save it I got a custom fit when i had Hcp. 30 and it was a waste of money and time! I was charged 50€ just to get told: Take the Srixon i506, + 1 inch and 4° upright and the nippon shaft. Sounded good at first but i didnt buy these irons i just took some lessons and got fitted 3 months later again. This time from my pro who didnt want anything for it. Now i am playing Mizunos MP60 a harder shaft + 1 inch and only 2° upright because my shaft plane got much better. As you can see a big diffrence between both recommendations! The same is true for a 3 wood, just get fitted for one when you have improved. Especially for woods you need a consistent swing because they are so long and rotate easy in and out of their optimal position. But if you want to buy one right now i would just go to a shop with a driving range near by, take a lot of their woods and hit about 10-20 balls with each, it gives you a good feeling and you will probably find one that you like. And to give you a brand you could look for, i like the Cobras and the Titleist PT, but they are to expensive for me right now and i am not good enough
  7. I dont know your set of irons, but PWs have usually a loft of 47 to 48 degrees. The Gap between your PW and your LW is therefore 12-13 degrees. This is huge! you could fill it now with a 52° and a 56° or just a 54° it is up to you. I am playin a 47° PW a 56° SW and a 60° LW. This is no real problem for me, because my homecourse has huge and slow greens and when the approach shot comes a little bit to long or to short it doesnt matter to me because i am still on the green, therefore i am not going to buy a 52° Wedge in the next season. I just make a 3/4 shot with the PW and the distance gap is no problem anymore.
  8. I also have problems with "playing from the mats" i always hit the ball very high when i am on the course but when i switch to the mats on the range i just hit it very very low, a little bit farther but very low and i dont like that. So i practice on the mats to get it high in the air. When that is done i always hit it fat on the course... I really hate playin irons from mats v I suppose it is all mental...
  9. I have two sets of Irons, the one set is pretty old i suppose it was made around 1950, they are very short blades specially made for my grand uncle, and the other set is +1 inch Iron Set. They only differ in distance, i hit the long Irons farther thats all! The feeling with both and the ball flight is nearly the same once u are used to the lenght of the shaft but i have to admit that the long irons are better for my knees and the back i dont have to go down that much with them
  10. A Vokey SM 56.10 and a Vokey SM 60.08 Wedge. And can you believe it? Santa told me to use them allready and to just wrap them up and lay them under the X-Mas Tree next to the typical Golfclothing i had to buy for me when I have finished my testings!
  11. You dont even need to buy sth special. I have a big carpet 4 or 5 Yards long I suppose. I just put a tiny coin on it and try to hit it either with a putt or a Lobwedge chip, works good for me gives me the needed security when i am out on a real (slower) green
  12. I switched from Cast Deep Cavity Back AMF Irons to Mizuno MP60 and the feeling of these forged muscle Back irons is just awesome. The deep cavitys where so forgiving that i could play with my lousy swing style and think I was good. Now I really feel what I do wrong. It is heaven to hit the sweetspot and a tiny Divot and hell if it is an off-center, socket or what-so-ever-hit where the gras flys farther then the ball. I recommend forged, non-forgiving irons and a nice Pro if you want to learn fast. There is an old saying: "Learning through pain" (I am not american so I dont know if that is good english but I think you all get the meaning )
  13. My first set was a AMF Beginner Set "Custom Fit". The Irons were cast and had a very deep cavity back. Whenever i played a ball wrong i was wondering why. It didnt matter though because these irons were so forgiving that the ball would always fly somewhere. After giving these Irons to my father this summer who wants to start playing golf I switched to Mizuno MP60 (also custom fit). Now it is the complete opposite, whenever I dont hit the sweetspot I feel it in my whole Body, especially the arms and back I really love that feeling and i would recommend any mid-handicapper to get some forged muscle backs or slight cavity backs even if you cant use them like a pro because it will improve your game a lot when you train with a high responding iron. Another intresting fact is: I really like the look of the Mizunos and therefore play much more golf then i did with the AMF Cast Clubs
  14. I am new to this Forum so first of all: Hi everybody :) My best shot of the week was on a 220 Yards Par 3, it is a very narrow Par 3 downhill. I took my 4 Iron and hitted the first shot directly onto the green, but not only that, it bounced twice jumped into the hole and out again just to stop dead 2 feets away from the hole! As close to a "hole in one" as i have ever been! The sad part of the story is: I Missed the 2 feet Birdie Putt, waited 20 secs still hoping the wind could blow it in and tapped it for par :/ This showed me once again that i spend to much time on the range strokin balls and not on the green doing some putts. For the Rest of the Day my flight Partners just called me "Seppo-King of the Three Putt" which just describes my Golf skills perfectly
