  1. Thanks for that @carpediem4300 Funny you should mention the chest/arms like that. I was reading hogans book last night and came across this image Which I think gets the same feeling you're talking about. Question for you. I found when trying to keep this triangle, my backswing path felt a lot more upright. Something like this Which I can understand. But what does your downswing path feel like?
  2. I've been Playing Golf for: 7 Years My current handicap index or average score is: 85 My typical ball flight is: Straight/Fade The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Slice/Push Hey Hoping to get some insight into a way to improve my swing. My fade/push is killing me so. I'll go 5 or 6 holes level par and then slice or push my card out with doubles and triples. Not fun. My takeaway looks flat. I also have no idea how to fix my downswing. It looks like i'm coming way too far from the inside? I can't get a feel for the right way to start this. I don't know what part of the body to trigger. I just swing at it. My feel vs real is totally off. I've read over and over about starting from the ground up, but can't seem to translate this into a decent hit. I'm sure you can see from the video how cramped it looks on the way down. I've tried all sorts. Hitting with the left vs right. Pushing the right shoulder under the chin at impact. Dropping the arms etc I keep coming too far from the inside. I can't seem to attack it the way I see a lot of great strikers do. Any help, tips or other observations are all welcome. Videos:
  3. Ernie has a 140 odd mph clubhead speed. Looks easy, but he smacks the thing. edit* I meant to say ball speed...smart asses :P
  4. Did....did you just speak for Tiger Woods. Yeah...that happened.
  5. whenever sickness or work stops me. Even then, I'd always take 5 minute breaks to go out and swing or chip in the garden to relax.
  6. Exactly the feeling I'm getting in my swing now. Shoulder turn initiates, hands lift up and wrists cock. shoulder turn again, wrists release. Before my main feeling was clubhead along the ground via the arms, leaving the shoulders passive. Pretty much a golfing revelation for me. Watching any of the pros I'd never be able to emulate how they seemed to take the club completely perpendicular to the ground.
  7. I watched this video before going out for a round today, and It was a completely different way of hitting. I found the impact much more solid and the swing as a whole a lot more contained, manageable and consistent. Video: Feel vs Real here. What I'd usually do (plan view): How do the rest of you feel on your backswing? taking it out on a line? Lifting it upwards via a bend and a turn? Other?
  8. Forgot the mention the pole is stuck into the ground. Feels good man.
  9. Nice steady fluid backswing. Let the wrist break naturally with the momentum and gravity of the club head. When I feel the click, keep the head centered and turn my belt buckle towards the target, feeling like I have a 6ft steel pole going through my spine and out my ass (yeah). Then letting the hands and wrists slot into place (not passive but relaxed and powerful)
  10. Hi Guys. Been lurking on this forum for some time. Took up the game seriously in Jan of this year and I have to say, I'm addicted. I've learnt all I know by just hitting balls at the net and watching youtube videos, so I'd like to get some critique on what i've gotten so far. I'm pretty sure I'm coming back a little flat, but I'm trying to correct this. I haven't entered any comps yet or put in a card, but hopefully I'll get round to that sometime this month. Cheers. Also, sorry about the quality. It's all I have at the minute.
  11. The importance of a good ball. I was hitting some terrible balls yesterday and only then did I notice how much a difference that extra few quid makes. About 20 yards is the answer.
  12. Not so much good shooting, but gratifying at least. Was playing pretty sharp dog leg that went left to right. I played 4 balls down which covered the width of the fairway and which were also equidistance apart. I lol'd
  13. Tiger sheer mental steel is what wins it over for me.
  14. Hi Guys. I'm a web designer from Ireland. Been lurking here for a while now.
