  1. Followed by seriously good up and downs. Scrambling is very useful in the Ryder cup.
  2. That's great... But he's still a geat addition to this team.
  3. Harrington and serious mistake don't go in the same sentence. Playing well? He's capable of pretty much anything on the golf course, as his major wins show, and he has a great temperant, which will help the team as a whole.
  4. It's a cash cow, nothing more nothing less. The PGA tour doesn't make any money from the 5 biggest events - the 4 majors and the Ryder cup - because it doesn't run any of them. As for the 'best' players being there, 3 of the major winners aren't. A ridiculous system, which isn't indicative of the best player throughout the season, and is quite honestly an insult in that respect.

Does anyone else find this whole fedex 'play off' series to be a complete joke and anticlimax? Talk about a cash cow...

I've seen better organisation at the local municipal's open. Pathetic marshalling and crowd control. The course is very gimmicky and synthetic, too.
  7. Tiger is still young, he still has plenty of time to win a whole lot more. Stop stirring the sh1t and pretending he has absolutely no future, it's pretty pathetic on your part.
  8. I can smell something. @ Sean Miller: make less sense, cheers.
  9. His smash factor is awful....do you think that has anything to do with constantly trying to achieve this 300 yard carry?
  10. The computer says a 269 yard carry, but you're still clinging on to the 300 yard carry. Haha.

Where was the chilidish name calling? PM, or another post? Because there was nothing wrong with the one you quoted.

Well done on completely avoiding my point; i.e. if the only way people can spectate properly is to stand in all those 'bunkers', the course is not fit for purpose in hosting a major.
  13. ^ Should he have wiped up the mess afterwards, too? Maybe he should have scuffed the ground a few times further back, create a few bunkers for the other groups.

Thanks for proving someone else's point about the course not being fit for purpose. You ain't kiddin'. I thought some of the general crowd behaviour was disgusting, in terms of shouting literally a millisecond after the ball was hit, sometimes before. Those "get in the hole" morons need to be dealt with stat. Zero tolerance, get them out of there and slap them with a fine.
  15. Has anyone on the PGA got the balls to challenge these rules, or, as someone said above, will they stick to the jobsworth "rules are rules" mantra? COMMON SENSE. You don't see that type of craap at your local muni, let alone the final major of the year.

Not only a cop-out, but lazy acceptance of rules without thinking to challenge and subsequuently change them. This ranks up there with the ridiculous 'ball moving at adress' nonsense. Let's use some common sense and quit the blind acceptance of tradition.
  17. Ignoring the other butthurtudness, that's just objectively rubbish. Aside from the US tour having more depth, the European tour is miles better these days....so many dangerous players who could easily win.

Really? I was under the seemingly misguided impression that your drive = 1 shot....just like a putt or an iron shot. The litmus test for me: I would MUCH rather play my ball 30 yards further forward in semi rough, than back on the fairway.
  19. ^ That's one of the most ignorant posts I've seen in some time.
  20. Nonsense. I've played many tournaments at different courses, which are often harder than my own (e.g. Southport and Ainsdale, Hillside etc), and shot below my handicap consistently. Ever heard of raising your game? To say your handicap can double or even triple depending on your variables is just ludicrous.

Possibly the worst analogy I've ever heard, but carry on. John Deere classic? Bravo. Considering my point about playing those other great links courses, you're not the brightest spark are you? This week has just highlighted how brilliant Loch Lomond was the week before, a course that should easily be hosting this event at some point in the near future.

7 double greens. Awful. The first hole? Totally redundant off the tee. I can't see how anyone can enjoy hitting to absurdly large greens, makes for poor viewing imo, too,.
  23. Ridiculous question, and to say his major wins are tarnished somewhat due to winning at the same place 3 times, is just laughable too. He's number 2 in the world, in the most competitive era the game has known in terms of depth and quality.

Yeah, God forbid you use your own mind and judgement, just think and do whatever they say. Courses like Birkdale and Hillside are objectively superior to this field. Honestly, today was painful to watch, so many holes just blurring in to one, just how I remembered it. I laugh at all the sentimentality people have here regarding 'the home of golf', when 99% of you haven't even been near it let alone played it. It's like saying you know Tiger Woods well because you've seen him on TV. Tradition is overrated, especially when it's at the expense of genuinely better courses getting a look in. The Headingley cricket ground of golf.

Is it horrible when someone gives an opinion which differs to yours? You need get out more if that's the case.
