Yes, I believe it includes a cart. According to their website if you play in the afternoon, the price drops to $31. -
Myrtle Beach Course for High Handicap
Wheels309 replied to LI Hacker's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
If it is in the area, Myrtlewood would be a great spot to hit. I only played their pinehills course, but they do have another course (Palmetto). Also, John Daly designed a course in that general area as well, Wicked Stick. It was suppose to be nice and around the same price point. One course I wish that I played was the International World Tour Golf Links. THe course has replicated 27 holes from famous courses around the world and has put these signature holes together in one course. It is more expensive and at the time, we were deciding between this course and The Dunes Golf and Beach Club. The Dunes is $100+ a round, but it is a beautiful course. World Tour is a little less if I remember right. Towards the end of this thread http://thesandtrap.com/t/56097/share-your-personal-course-pictures there are pictures of the Dunes from myself and another member. I think someone posted pictures from the World Tour Links as well. There might be several pictures from Myrtle Beach courses since it is a popular golf vacation spot. -
Myrtle Beach Course for High Handicap

What part of Myrtle Beach are you going to, There are a lot of courses within driving distance, but if you provide either central, north or south myrtle beach, you might get a couple replies that are closer to your location. Last summer on a visit to Myrtle Beach I played Myrtlewood-Pinehills and thought it was really nice. It's open, but does have several water hazards. It is centrally located, close to Broadway at the beach, along the intercoastal highway. The course was in very good shape went in mid-lat May. The views on the course were very nice too, several holes followed the waterway. Next to the Dunes Golf and Beach Club, this was my favorite of the courses that we played. The price was very reasonable too, around $40 if I remember right. -
Want to go to college for golf? Need help/advice
Wheels309 replied to Clevelandgolf1's topic in Golf Talk
My college roommate's brother went the agriculture route and has been interning/working at Oakmont for the past two summers. I'm not sure what program he went through though. -
Played at Longaberger This afternoon and shot an 85. First time there it is a beautiful course I really hate playing slow and being in a twosome following two foursomes made for a very long round, just shy of 5 hours. All day it was hit, wait for about 5 minutes, hit wait... Could never quite get in a groove.

Sorry, I didn't hit the MP59s, I didn't care for the look with the Titanium insert. The 59s are going to be a little more forgiving than the 64s but I would think with the insert that the feel would be weakened slightly. If your ball striking is really solid, and are looking for an iron that is going to give you a lot of workability, you could check out the MP69s. I am not there yet, so I didn't even try to hit these.

I was playing the AP2 710s for a couple of years then decided to look for some new irons a couple of weeks ago. I hit a lot of what Golfsmith had in this range of irons. The MP 64s were clearly a better club in my opinion. I hit the AP2 712s and thought they were pretty solid. I didn't feel that I would gain anything switching from my older AP2s to the newer model. To me the feel was the same with the 6iron I brought in and the 6iron I hit from their demos. Then I hit the MP 64s. The very first swing was hit pure and I was convinced instantly that the Mizunos were going to be the right choice. None of the other forged clubs had the feel that the Mizunos have with their grain flow forging process. I'm sure with your lower HC that mishits aren't as big of an issue as they are with me; however, the Mizunos were/are a little more forgiving than the AP2s. You can tell that you mishit the shot by the feel, but the results aren't as punishing. Some of this might be because I finally was hitting a club with the correct length and shaft (my AP2s were bought off the rack and never fitted). I ended up going with the MP 64s with a .5 inch longer S300 shaft and they feel great. If you have any more specific questions I'd be glad to help in anyway that I can.

A couple years ago I played in a group behind Trace Adkins' foursome while he was in the Minster area for Country Concert. -

That is a nice idea and there's already a pretty nice thread going with personal course pictures: http://thesandtrap.com/t/56097/share-your-personal-course-pictures -
Thanks for the advice, The first thing I noticed when recording this was that my swing was getting a little long. I didn't think the problem was as bad as it shows in the video. I know this is an issue with my driver, results in a lot of inconsistency with drives, but didn't realize this extended into my irons. I have been working to make sure this is shortened. I'll check out the video on the backswing.

I'm not sure how you can be held accountable unless it was done with intent, which doesn't seem to be the case. I find it similar to what you see at baseball and softball fields where there is parking right behind the outfield fence. If a home run is hit and goes through the windshield, the person who hit the ball would not be held responsible. Is parking along the driveway permitted, or do drivers do so without proper parking spaces? The golf course should really have signs posted warning drivers of this inherent risk or nets placed to prevent these accidents from happening.

You are correct, I forgot that we started on the back nine, and finished on number 9. It had rained the entire day before and the morning when we played it, but by time we finished it was nice and sunny. Definitely my favorite of the courses we played down in Myrtle Beach last summer. -

Looks nice, I've been looking at replacing my Titleist stand bag with an Ogio bag, just haven't decided on which one I want to go with yet
-
Which Ogio bag is that?

No wet towel, but a quick wipe with my towel after the shot, then a thorough cleaning after the round. Wedges get the grooves cleaned out after / before the shot.

Yes, I seem to always play better when I am playing with someone who plays around the same level that I do. I'm in my early 20's so a lot of my friends don't take the game very seriously. When I play with those who just are out there to have a good time, not caring about what they are shooting or how they are playing, my score is always slightly higher. It's harder to concentrate and commit to a shot when those you are playing with aren't taking the game seriously. When I played in high school, the player from my own team that I was playing with had a larger impact than those I was playing against. One of my best friends was my playing partner for 3 years of high school and we always had a blast playing together. His game was up and down, could shoot a 37 one day then follow it up with a mid 50 round. When he was on, I knew I could be more aggressive and when he struggled I know I had to play it safer.

A little intimidated after scanning through this thread, I can only dream of playing on some of the courses all of you are playing on. In SW Ohio, we don't get the scenery that some of you are lucky to enjoy. I will throw in a couple of photos to the discussion. One is from Myrtle Beach, the rest are from various courses that I've taken photos of in SW Ohio. photos were taken with my cell phone camera and do not do any of the courses justice. The view from the Par 3,18th green at The Dunes Golf and Beach Club In Myrtle Beach, SC. Truly a beautiful course. One of the nicest courses I have played. View from the tee on #11 at Cassel Hills Golf Club in Vandalia, OH . One of my favorite holes in the area. View from the tips at the finishing hole at Shaker Run Golf Club in Lebanon, OH The 17th at Windy Knoll Golf Club in Springfield, OH . Nice short par 4 that is very drivable even from the tips, but bunkers surround the green and they usually let the hills grow to a nice thick rough. Windy Knoll is one of my favorite courses in the area, for the money it can't be beat. -
How'd it go? I still remember my first high school tournament out of the foursome I was paired with 2 individuals made it to state and another was all league in our conference, pretty stiff competition for a freshman to be thrown into, but a great learning experience.

Help with all the different Adams Hybrids
Wheels309 replied to Bellamy803's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
You can try looking here: http://hotlist.golfdigest.com/d/a/Hybrid not sure if the link will be set to only Adams Hybrids, if not then you can select that on the side. It might not be exactly what you're looking for but might start you in the right direction. -
I just went through the purchasing process for a new set of irons and I will try to outline my thoughts on the different Irons I hit. From the clubs you mentioned, I think the MP59s are probably more closely related to the AP1s. The AP2s are not very forgiving whereas the AP1s will help in that area a little more while still giving control. The different clubs I hit included AP2, AP1, MP64, Cobra (Amp Pro?) and Callaway X forged. AP2: Coming from the 2008-9 model of AP2 irons I wanted to test out the latest model. To me nothing really changed from the irons I had to what I hit. They are solid irons but not as forgiving as what I wanted (why I decided to switch from my AP2s). The feel is the feel you get from a forged club, but nothing special in my opinion. AP1 : I liked the AP1s, but the Golfsmith store I was at didn't have a full fitting cart from Titleist yet so I didn't go any further than the demo 6iron they had. The shaft combo was not the best fit for me so the results were mixed. Again the feel with these were alright, but nothing special. Cobra Amp Pro: I really liked this offering from Cobra. The demo 6 iron I hit felt really nice and results were fairly consistent. The feel was very good, probably a little better than the AP1/2 and in line with the Callaways that I hit. Callaway X Forged: I have never been a Callaway fan. I started playing with a set of X14 steelheads back in high school so I decided to give them a shot. The ball definitely feels good when struck well and the club looks great at address. My results with the irons were not as good as the cobras or the mizunos. Mizuno MP64: After 1 hit with these irons I understood what the big fuss about Mizuno's grain flow forging process is all about. When struck well you don't even feel the ball coming off the irons. A slight mishit is noticeable once hit; however, they are still forgiving enough that you aren't punished too much. At address these irons look nice, probably not as nice as the Callaways, but a very close 2nd. The overall look of these clubs are very nice, nothing extravagant just a solid design. One thing I liked about the Mizunos and the others might have done this as well and I just didn't notice, but the cavity decreases as you approach the PW. This allows for more forgiveness with your long irons and more control of shot shape with your short irons. I ended up ordering a custom fitted set of MP64s

Shot a rather disappointing 80 today. I left a lot of shots out there with a couple of 3 putts. My front 9 score of 43 really hurt the round but I was happy with the back nine. After going Bogey Bogey to start the back, I settled down and took pars on 12-16. A birdie on 17 and a missed birdie putt on 18 (very makable 7 footer) got me to a 37. 43-37-80
