  1. I really hope Charlie Wi wins. But this tournament could belong to anyone who is under par at this point.
  2. Was thinking of getting this as I know I don't have anywhere near as smooth a tempo as I need. Anyone been using this since this thread started (or before or just a long time in general) and achieved great results?
  3. Worked on short game for about 2 1/2 hours and long game for 1 hour. Most of the practice was short game shots around the green. Did 30 minutes of solely putting as well. Worked on hitting a push draw today at the range. I was getting the draw part down (even hooking sometimes) pretty well but couldn't get the ball to start out to the right until near the end of the bucket. I decided to weaken my left hand grip so the face was open maybe 5 degrees at address. This small fix was actually huge as it reduced the size of the hook (because the club face was more less closed relative to the swing path than before) as well as started the ball right of my target line. KEEP WORKING ON THIS!! Couldn't do my 30y up and down test today as it was getting late and someone else wanted to use it (which is rare for after 6pm). 5 to 10y tight lie chips:vv even par with 14/14 up and downs. 6/14 within 3 feet and a ~5 ft average par putt length outside of 3 feet. 10y rough pitches: +4 par with 10/14 up and downs. 6/14 within 3 feet and a ~8ft average par putt length outside of 3 feet. 20y rough/tight lie pitches: +7 par with 7/14 up and downs. 1/14 within 3 feet and ~10 ft average par putt length outside of 3 feet.
  4. I am kind of confused om what a golf club team is. Does your course (or Men's club) compete against others or something?
  5. That would mean a lead arm shallower than parallel to the shoulder line, right? Would this cause too much of an inside out swing? Today at the range I was hitting a lot of straight draws/hooks and pull draws/hooks. The fact that it was curving right to left at all is proving I am swinging in to out. However, I didn't just take some time to think about the ball flight laws and why this was happening until the low end of the bucket. I decided to weaken my left hand grip so the club at address was slightly open (maybe 5 degrees). Right after I did that, I hit a push draw. The right to left turn was IDEAL and not 20-40y like before due to a smaller difference between swing path and clubface angle. Weakening my left hand grip (opening the club at address) served the dual purpose of hitting a push as well as decreasing the amount of right to left turn in the shot. I was so happy after that. I can't wait to put in some more work...and get an actual video camera. edit: to be honest, I think my left hand grip has been too strong since the beginning. I used to have the line on the grip resting under the crease between my left thumb and left index finger. With a more weakened grip than I am used to, the line on the grip is underneath the left thumb.
  6. The only reason it is against the rules of a stipulated round is because you are practicing on the course. In a sense you have more time to warm into your swing for the day and fix any swing flaws on the course. That's unfortunate that is a part of handicap posting because I don't know many singles who stand and wait 5 minutes before each shot. They hit multiple shots after the group clears because they know they will be waiting anyways. I'd wager 95% of singles who do post handicaps probably do this but follow every other rule of golf to a tee. 4 hours of golf would be so damn boring if half of it was spent standing and waiting. Not saying it's a legitimate handicap round if one posts it (even though no one can verify any "cheating" so it does count), just stating that is what most people would do.
  7. That's pretty close to what I was thinking when I made the thread. Deep hands are more 1 plane and steeper hands are 2 plane. The guy on the left has the positioning I've been working on in the mirror at P4. The guy on the right is inbetween my old swing and a one plane swing. I was very two planed and it wasn't consistent at all. Yeah, I know I am going to pull it. Yeah, I know I am going to fade it. But I don't know consisntely how much I will pull it or how much it will curve left to right with that swing. Plus, the steeper swing meant over swinging for me (since I have a pretty decent amount of wristcock). I was almost always tipping over parallel.
  8. When you have say an average approach distance (between 125-175 lets say), how far left of target line do you feel your stance is? I say feel because if you truly were parallel then it would only be ~1y left of the target line.
  9. Ah okay. So a neutral stance would be where the stance line is roughly 1 yard to the left (for right handed) of the target line. Gotcha.
  10. Why are we supposed to be aimed parallel left of the target? I always just aim at the target. I think I am misunderstanding what you mean by that.
  11. That's what I thought but figured it couldn't be that simple. By that logic push draws should go just as high because a push indicates an open clubface at impact as well.
  12. At the end of the video you can see them starting to curve back. I wish the video played out another 3 seconds.
  13. Yeah, he's still got a good plane even though its leaning more towards 2 plane than 1 plane I think. My old swing is probably 10 degrees steeper than the guy on the right. The biggest thing that caught my eye about this video was the P4 positioning and the opposite ball flights.
  14. Why does a fade go higher? Physics wise
  15. I don't know why people think a fade is a more controlled shot. But if it works for you than alright. It's far too inconsistent of a shot (a pull fade), at least for me. So I am working on moving away from it. Why do you favor the guy to the right? You just said that you do
  16. I was just searching through PGA tour swings and SnT swings and came to this somehow. Shows two guys hitting complete opposite ball flights at the exact same time. This video vividly helps me understand what I used to do (guy on the right) to what I am trying to do (guy on the left). Notice how they takeaway at the exact same time, but the guy on the right seems too quick from the top (he's at impact when the guy on the left is just past p5), where as the guy on the left seems much smoother. Also noticed they both reach P4 at the same time. Guy on left hits a push draw and guy on right hits a pull fade. Just thought it was interesting and relevant to me, anyways.
  17. Sounds good man! I hope you get there! I've been saving to get a fully fit set of clubs and hopefully can have it done before 2011. Miura do look like beautiful clubs.
  18. After a little over a week practicing, deep hands are feeling much more natural. I'd say I'm 40-50% of the way to making it something I don't have to think about. My waggle includes a p2 check so I can get that feeling right before I make the swing. But hopefully one day I'll get it down as my natural backswing. I am even starting to make my chips/pitches with deep hands, which feels a little more natural than full swing since it's just to p2 or a little more for short game shots. I feel much more coiled at the top now due to a flatter shoulder and arms parallel to shoulders at P4. I am having trouble holding the wrist cock and hitting down on the ball, especially with the shorter irons when using deep hands. I've hit some of the most solids shot this way, but 90% are thin or a little heavy. Coming so inside I feel like I can't hit down as much. Any reason that might be? I might just need more reps and to use a 60 40 stack and tilt weight distribution. Usually it feels pretty much 50/50. Using more weight on the left foot is helping as well, but a lot of the time I am getting a very low ball flight even when I take a good divot. Driver feels good with deep hands. Some straight shots and some draws. Very few fades.
  19. I agree 150%. His facial expressions, his walk, his everything seem to be condescending to everyone around him.
  20. Poulter is the only one that doesn't seem to realize his entitled and snobbish attitude is destroying his golf game. He could be so much better if he was just humble and in control of his emotions. And to think, he said no one besides Tiger was even on his level. He's my least favorite player on tour by far. Followed by Jeff Overton and Steve Elkington
  21. Is there a noticeable performance difference between these brands of clubs (which I have never seen advertisement for) and say Titleist, TaylorMade, Ping etc clubs? I only ask because the most respected and best reviewed club maker in WA state sells these brands of equipment (which leads me to believe that they are great clubs). Also has Diamana and UST Tour shafts. He believes these brands are the best and I don't doubt him. But I am curious as to why these brands aren't advertised on TV at all? Anyone play with any of these clubs and how do you compare them to a major companies clubs? I want to get fit by this guy because he is the best and is in my area. He has his own shop and website. Jim Von is his name and his store is Von's Golf for anyone in WA who might have been fitted by him.
  22. I'm sure almost everyone will be in contention though.
  23. Yeah but that doesn't mean they have to show Tiger and Phil walking around for 30 seconds before and after their shot. If they want to put more of a premium on Tiger and Phil...show all of there shots like usual but also show everyone elses. Of course, there shots would be replayed first after the commercial break..but I wish they would show everyone and all their shots
  24. I know this is well ahead of schedule but I had a question about it. I've never seen the Tour Championship before, but what is the coverage of it like? I would imagine it wouldn't be very difficult at all to show EVERY SINGLE SHOT of EVERY SINGLE PLAYER (there's only 30). I'm betting they don't do this but they easily could. 15 groups of two. Only showing the first few seconds before the shot is struck (pre shot waggle). This would be so great to see. To see the worst shots and the best, and all those in between from the top 30 golfers in the world for that particular year (as big as it gets, really. Majors could be considered bigger and harder to win due to the much larger field, but getting to the Tour Championship isn't easy and really proves who is the most consistent, not just the best for 1 tournament). Every, single, shot. What's the coverage like for real though?
  25. His arms at the top are like 30 degrees or more steeper than his shoulder inclination. Plus he's trying to kill the ball. I'm sure he hits a 50 yard pull fade.
