  1. Ditto.. I kept looking for that choice but could not find it. LOL
  2. I can see it either way... I grew up playing and learning golf in the blue jeans & t-shirt crowd, so that is what I am comfortable with. I feel more at home at the local muni's, than I do at the upper tier courses that have strict dress codes. As long as they post their dress code on their website, I can live with either and don't think it has much impact on the game itself.
  3. I know it is very difficult at that age for kids to even remember anything, so I am sure it hard to remember something as dynamic as your own score, others scores, rules, etc. Adults, no sympathy though. My brother... love him dearly, but for a man to have a Juris Doc he sure has a hard time counting past 6 also.
  4. I have been caddying for my daughter this year in her age division (14) on the local 9 hole prep tour, providing advice, etc. The one thing I've noticed is the number of kids that truly can't count past 6, or they are cheating on purpose. I've been training daughter how to mentally keep a tally in her head of her opponents strokes, rather than just trusting the number they call out is accurate. If I have spotted a discrepany, I've made her address the girl to resolve the difference before proceeding. So far this has worked, and she is starting to see how important it is to stay plugged into the round and keep your head in the game. I told her.. how would you feel if you shot a good score on the HS golf team, only to get beat out by a stroke because someone else wanted to cheat and kick you down to the JV team and take your rightful spot. It's a shame, but a buddy of mine who has 3 sons who all played on the HS golf team said it was crazy the number of kids who he felt were cheating on purpose and never got called on it. He did say at the Regional event, all of the "Low Scorers" somehow shot terrible due a walking monitor being placed in each foresome. What have you witnessed, and it is that pervasive from your experience?
  5. For years I only used a 3W as my "Driver", but then found some higher lofted (12 degree) drivers that really complimented my game. Really helps get the ball airborn, and I don't have to swing as hard to get the distance I need.
  6. Yes lots of times. I have walked off the course after finishing 9 if the group I am with is ridiculously slow or heavy drinkers. It's not worth ruining my day to deal with such nonsense.
  7. I can handle a little thicker grips, but nothing is worse to me than grabbing a club that has skinny grips. ala... .Regular size .600 core grip with only one wrap of double sided tape.
  8. Justin from Big Break Indian Wells......
  9. I won't send my daughter (14) to another pro again. She has been in golf camps since the age of 7, and all of them told me she had a very natural swing and all she needed to do was keep playing and practice. I had it out with a young pro (all of 23) who "Specialized in Youth Development". Well after watching him trying to tell her to play all of her full wedge shots off her back foot, then she went from drawing the ball to having a slice... I pulled the plug. I gave it 2 lessons a week/2 hours a week, for almost 5 weeks, before he and I parted ways. He proceeded to tell me she would not be ready for a golf course for a long time, due to all of the significant issues she had. Since that time we went back to basics in trying to enhance the natural swing that she originally had just keep building on solid ball striking. We worked thru a few things when she gets a little loopy and continued focus on basics, but overall she is where she needs to be playing golf, and not just practicing full shots on the range day after day. She started playing Junior 9 Hole tournaments this summer and racked up two first, and a second. I think all of this Swing Coach mess has made people think golf is harder than what it is. When you read and hear all of the interviews with the older players, they all indicate they got good by playing golf, and not worrying about to many swing mechanics, etc. I think once you have a basic pretty decent repeatable swing, it is then time to start playing golf and putting the shots you need in your bag. I see so many kids at that age that all they can do is swing the club and look good doing it, but know nothing about playing golf, what shot to hit, etc.
  10. Yes, was a crazy putt from 30 yards. He hit it so hard it looked like he was playing Polo.
  11. if the hole is large enough so that you can shake the club to where the piece of epoxy gets near the weight hole take a torch and try to melt it. I had a very similar situation and I the only option I was to shoot some expanding foam insulation in the head. It added maybe one to two swingweight points, but that was it.
  12. Yes very easy and one of the best things you can do for your game. Very minimal tools needed.
  13. the majority of people I see wait for the green to clear when they are 225 to 245 yards out never get there. I usually go for it, then apologize if I accidentally hit it flush.
  14. I have to say, I'd bet editing is pretty spot on with Justin.
  15. After years of having my little girl (14) in golf camps and programs since she was 7, and me working with her 5 days/week the last 1.5 years, she starts the local junior mini tours this summer in preparation for HS golf team. Previously she has been carrying the basic set Driver, 5,7,9,SW, Putter in a carry bag, but the last two months we have since add a few more to her set for a total of 10 clubs. The last two outings she has complained the set is too heavy after we finish 9 holes, so Saturday I carried them for her the remaining 9 holes. All I can say is WOW... I was shocked how dang heavy it was and it liked to have ruined my back by the time we returned to the clubhouse. I checked the rules of the local junior tour this summer, and it says participants are allowed to use Push/Pull Carts, but am wondering if she will be allowed to use one on the HS golf team.. or is she out of luck. Thanks for the feedback
  16. I've been building Acer clubs for years for my self and others, and now I build them for my kids. Order thru Hireko and they are very reliable.
