  1. Focus: Learn to stay mentally focused for all 18 holes. My focus seems to fade after 12 or 13th hole. Eliminate double bogeys: One or two a round makes me have to really grind it out to shoot a good overall score. Play more by myself: I tend to get a lot more out of a round when I play alone and am not worried what others are doing. Shoot par. Play in some local tournaments. Get better at 100yds. and in.
  2. i have recently started to enjoy watching CHIII swing the club. he is one individual who absolutely gets everything he can out of his swing. He's listed as 160lbs. but I've walked with him at a couple tournaments and he might be 145 at very most and he can really knock the stew out of the ball!!!
  3. the way i've always been taught to check to see if my grip was right is to make sure the v between your pointer finger and your thumb should both be pointing at your right shoulder. Both being your right and left hand.
  4. Anything as long as its Mizuno. I just recently started playing mizuno irons myself and they are the best feeling club i've ever put in my hands. In the last year i've owned ping, callaway, maxfli revolutions, clevelands, and none of them feel anything close to my mp-30's. They are also my first forged iron set. They looked a little intimidating to me at first but I quickly have adapted to them. My advice is to get a forged set and teach yourself how to hit them instead of buying some big clunky game improvement irons. Just my 2 cents.
  5. You can buy a tool that resharpens your grooves for under $20. I would try that and stick with your old irons before you go and buy some new ones. Just a thought.....
  6. I would like to see Couples win at least one more before he moves on to the champions tour. And Daly, just so he can stay on tour period. I still like some of the guys from the nineties that haven't won in a while.( Janzen, Leonard to name a couple). We're slowly seeing a transition from the old school to the new school.
  7. Another option you have for finding distances is skycaddie golf gps. There is a mark button on the unit that lets you "mark" a spot from where you hit your ball and when you reach your ball you hit the button again it tells you exactly how far you've hit your ball. The only drawback about this option is you have to be on a course that is preprogrammed for the skycaddie and you would also have to do this during a round. If these options are available to you I would give it a try.
  8. What a great article by Phil. Maybe this will help some of the haters know that he shoots you straight and doesn't sugarcoat anything he says or does. Yes he's had some blown opportunities, but he lost those opportunities playing his game and he'll tell you he wouldn't go back and change a thing. I've said something similar to this in another thread and I'll say it again. All you haters can say what ever you want about Phil, the media can continue to bash him for his antics, and continue to pick him apart. There's a reason he walks around with that shit eating grin on his face all the time. He realizes the whole big picture. He's out there doing what every single person that is signed in to this forum will only ever wish we could do. He makes over 40,000,000 a year playing golf on the weekends. He's only 36 and has a beautiful wife and 3 healthy kids. Most of us work all week to be able to play golf on the weekends. Thats if our significant others will let us. So let the man enjoy his great life he's made for himself and quit picking him apart!!
  9. what i do when i need 100% confidence in my contact is play the ball way back in my stance. When I say way back I mean playing it off the outside of my back foot. Seems a little odd but this all but guarantees perfect contact because it produces such a descending blow on the the ball. Try this, I think it will help you.
  10. I can't believe all these girls mentioned here and no one has mentioned Sophie Sandolo. This girl is definitely either one or two with erica blasberg.
  11. If you're looking for golfers who are hot: 1( Natalie Gulbis 2( Anna Rawson 3( Sophie Sandolo Kelly Tilghman is pretty. These girls are hot!! And they play for the right team!!
  12. MP-30 is a pretty good stick I must say. Maybe a little more forgiving than the 60 and 67's but still a real players club. IMO
  13. Defintiely on my list to play before I die. Along with Augusta, Bethpage, Torrey Pines, just to name a few.
  14. I will go with either Phil or Furyk. Both seem to be playing good golf. I would throw CHIII in there because he is playing so well right now, but I just don't think he has the kahoonas to go against the big guns coming down the stretch. When they finally drop for him, I think you will see CHIII as a contender more often. I've sat and talked to Kirk Triplett before and asked him his opinion. Who is the best ball striker on tour? He said CHIII. Also, never ever count out the Vij.
  15. titleist drivers speak for themselves. recently tried the 905r with a proforce v2 shaft. nice classic look at address and sets up nicely. I can't say enough about the shaft. A guy in my regular group hits the Callaway 460 tour with graffaloy blue stiff shaft. I've hit it and it is just ok. I don't like the look at address and the sound is a bit annoying but the club is really long. Judging buy sales numbers the taylor made's are liked by many, I just cant seem to hit em. My advice would be to go to your local golf shop, demo each club your thinking about buying for at least one hole round and go from there. And try different shaft options for each club. It will really make a huge difference for you. Although there many more newer drivers out there, I can't seem to let go of my Hogan Big Ben CS-3 driver. Since callway bought hogan and discontinued there drivers you can get them very cheap now. Good luck with your decision!
