  1. We took the kids up to the Mall of America this past week and on our way home I hot up Golf Galaxy because we don't have one near us. Closest one is in Omaha which is 3 hours away so I wanted to check it out while we were up there in Minneapolis. Picked up some Callaway Coronado v3 shoes, a Travis Mathew glove(even though I really dig my Callaway Xspann), American flag Pro V1s, and 2 boxes of Taylormade balls as they were on sale. Could have spent more time in there but the kiddos were ready to be done lol. Oh well
  2. Thank you for the suggestions everyone. I do know that being an amputee effects me not just in golf but everyday life. From the way I stand, walk, and even drive(use my left foot). I do know that I need to get to the chiropractor again as that always helps me feel more loose and lighter. I genuinely feel like I should be doing some sort of stretching at home regularly... not just for golf lol
  3. Will do! Thank you for pointing me in that direction.
  4. New to golf and I'm learning but I started doing some stretching before playing. I've even started doing it before going to Top Golf. That being said I still feel very stiff and tight when swinging and think I may not be doing enough. My buddy even said I look stiff when I swing. Part of that may be due to lack of professional instruction, but that's for another topic in another section of the forum. I'm no fitness expert but when I think to how I feel when golfing... stiff/tightness really seems to be in my upper arms, lower back, and hips. What are some of the stretches you all are doing before playing?
  5. Very well stated and all good points that make total sense to me. Thank you kindly!
  6. I was more so meaning because I haven't had any real instruction on how to properly swing so I feel like it may be too early to even post a video until I can swing consistently. Sounds like maybe that's not the case though. Just how I feel. Doesn't make me right though! Lol You make some good points about recording your swing though! Never thought about once I can get to a point of swinging well that I could use it as a reference if the swing starts to fall off a bit. As far as the light-hearted banter. I can handle that. I've always been a person who surrounds himself with people who if they aren't giving you crap regularly... I start to wonder if they're even really my friends! Lol Everyone I've golfed with here locally has been kind and not been too harsh when I whiff on the ball, top it, or put it far right. Thankfully there has been some improvement so that helps!
  7. Yup, he's goofy and always joking and laughing(often times at himself). It comes across as if thats just who he is naturally too. Doesn't seem forced to gain views. You are correct it is indeed Stacked Golf. They do seem genuine and nice. John appears to be pretty knowledgeable about a lot of different clubs that have come out over the years too!
  8. Thanks. Maybe not terrible, but certainly untrained and don't know what I'm doing yet! It certainly is addictive. I'm hooked already!
  9. I typically watch Rick Shiels, Good Good, and really enjoy Alex Etches as my go to guys. Peter Finch, MrShortGameGolf from time to time. Have been watching a bit of the younger couple that goes around to estate sales, pawn shops, sports stores looking for deals on clubs. Can't remember their channel name but Rick just did a video with them recently.
  10. Thank you! It's not quite that bad lol. We played in October yet but it was pretty chilly. It was unfortunate that my first time out on an actual course playing which started the love of the game.... was in late summer. I so wished I had played earlier in spring so I could have gotten more rounds in. Well really if I'm honest, I wish I'd have tried golf years and years ago! As for the swing video I saw that section and it peaked my interest for sure. Could be pretty embarrassing to share my video but it is what it is!
  11. As a person new to golf this is a good read to help understand golf etiquette. I am often spending quite a bit of time looking for a ball and when we've had people behind us I've left many a ball after looking for embarrassingly too long(which may be considered poor etiquette too?), or skipped catching up to the rest of my group or putting as to not slow our group down AND the next group coming. My first time out my buddy and I let people through quite a bit and I didn't even know it was the proper thing to do. It just made sense, they were playing faster than us, let them get on with their game and I won't feel as rushed which makes my already bad shots worse. As stated by others it really boils down to respect in most situations.
  12. I forgot to mention, I'm from South Dakota, US!
  13. I work in the farm drainage industry operating heavy equipment. Primarily one of our two self propelled tile plows installing drain tile.
  14. Been a while since I've joined a new forum but have always enjoyed using forums for my other hobbies. So here I am! Like the title says, I played my first round of golf last summer at 38. I always thought it was boring and not a "real" sport as a younger guy. I'm crazy about it now even though I'm terrible at it! I can't hit consistently at all and my driver in particular is 99% of the time a wicked slice. It does go far when I hit it either. I've had no lessons YET, and been trying to teach myself how to swing properly via the handful of times I got on the course last year and watching hundreds of videos on YouTube. Looking forward to this up coming season to play more and learn. Replaced my Wilson Profile box set with Cobra Air X box set and got a membership at my local course for this next year!
