  1. @ChetlovesMer thanks for your summary and additional info. I really like my Garmin watch so I thought the CT10s would be a good addition rather than going with Arccos or SS. I’ve learned from a Garmin group that the CT10 can’t adjust for different types of swings and you can’t delete / ignore a stroke for distance purposes. So while Garmin is great with GPS and navigation devices, not so great with golf sensors.
  2. @ChetlovesMer thanks for such a great response. Wow. Wish I knew that about Arccos before I got the CT10. Oh well … maybe next year. Very much appreciated
  3. I’m just starting to use my Garmin CT10 sensors and “so far so good”. But one question I have that I can’t figure out. How do you manage club yardages when you use the same club for different types of strokes? For example, last round I used my 9I as a full swing on an approach shot. But I also used it for chipping and pitching. So per the Garmin App my 9I distance is much lower than it should be. Would appreciate knowing how others are dealing with this. Thanks in advance.
  4. Ah! I see confusion here. I was responding to @tourproto who focused on COR. Whereas I was focused on the comment that there was little difference from drivers from 15 years ago. So I still think there are overall performance gains (even if COR was the same) between drivers today and from 15-ish years ago.
  5. Interesting. So you’re saying that COR is the only factor in driver distance — assuming a strong player with consistent swing etc?
  6. That’s very fair. But if you gave Rory a club from today and one from 15 years ago I think it’s fair to say he’d hit the current club farther and perhaps better shot shaping as well
  7. Not sure Rory McIlroy would agree with you on that. Remember what he said after The Travelers? Following his final round, Rory McIlroy was asked if the course is now too gettable for today’s players, and he replied in the affirmative. “I don't particularly like when a tournament is like this. Unfortunately, technology has passed this course by, right?”
  8. I’d consider putting the 5I back in the bag and seeing if you can get some more yardage out of it. Similar to you but I dropped 3H and added 4I
  9. I typically play from tees that result in total course yardage around 6500. If I play with someone who insists on the tips (for whatever reason) I’ll usually still play forward by one set and it doesn’t cause a huge issue. To something @iacas raised earlier, tees don’t care whether you’re male or female. So “ladies tees” is such an outdated term. Our club has four sets of tees cleverly marked I - IV. I’ve played from all of them at one time or another and I really like doing it because it gives you such a different look at the course. Course management becomes a lot more fun.
  10. Call it a kilt and you’ll be fine
  11. I didn’t see it on Sunday and this video isn’t helpful at all. You’d think if the ball actually moved the commentators would have been all over it. That said, doesn’t ramping down grass count as improving the lie under 8.1?
  12. @klineka that’s awesome! I’ll definitely look into getting the system.
  13. That’s awesome! Do you have a sense of how much distance you’ve added to your drive?
  14. Okay. Since Randomgolf99 is threatening legal action just my opinion but I would preserve everything he has posted and all responses in case it is needed as “evidence”. Not offering legal advice. Just some common sense
  15. Okay. That’s such a specious move. You don’t need more information to say if two identical swings except for speed create different results. It’s like saying you need to know more information to answer if 1+1 =2. Or you need to know more than mass and acceleration to determine Force when the equation is simply F=ma. Consider LDRICK. Two of the same swings except for swing speed. It’s fair to say that the higher swing speed will result in longer distance.
  16. @Randomgolf99 I’ll play your game. So if the Momentus came in various weights and you were given a custom training regime then your opinion would be that this would be helpful? Sounds like the only difference is that you would prefer a standard club head vs the weight assembly. Is that the only material difference in your mind? What did you do there? Let me ask you this. You have two students with identical swing traits except one can swing the driver at 90 mph and the other at 110mph. Their swings are identical in every ther respect. Fair to say that the 90mph swing wont hit the ball as far as the 110mph all things being equal. What would you tell the 90mph hitter to do to increase distance?
  17. Just curious how folks track their club distances. For Driver-Lob wedge I track my carry and total distances sorted by club. For 9I-Lob I also track carry and total distance for chip and pitch. I keep it all on a card. There is definitely overlap in carry and total distances on the short end. So I’m wondering if there is a better way to organize this stuff Thanks in advance for any thoughts.
  18. I think @Vinsk has it right. If you’re a good ball striker and are looking for better outcomes go with new technology. I’m not a great player but recently had a fitting. My “old” clubs were Callaway XRS. The fitting ended up changing my irons to Titleist T200 and wedges to Vokey. I can completely tell the difference. Interestingly, the fitter couldn’t find a better driver for me than the XRS. Now, deeper into the season, I tried the latest Callaway Paradym at our course. My drive was consistently 15-20 yards farther. Did I buy it? Nope. I will, however, go back for a driver fitting again because I think my swing is a bit more consistent
  19. You’re completely entitled to your opinion, and that’s fair. But as @klineka @iacas and this thread have shown there is actual data showing both increased swing speed and distance with clubs. Perhaps this is the 1% that is helpful.
  20. @klineka thanks for the update. Sorry if you said this but about how long have you been on the system?
  21. The club I belong to is basically collared shirt (tucked in) and shorts or long pants but not jeans or cargo style. I don’t have a problem with this because let’s be honest, no one wants to see most middle aged golfers wearing t-shirts, tank tops, etc. Sort of like business casual. One person I work with said “if it’s what you’d wear to clean out your garage, that’s not business casual”
  22. I’m trying to catch up on all that’s happened and the conversation here is amazing. Here are my thoughts for what they’re worth This “merger” isn’t about what’s best for golf, the players, or the fans. The Saudi PIF isn’t being benevolent. Some business types have run the numbers and decided that they will make a ton of $$$ on this investment. My guess is that “friends” of the PIF will start buying (or perhaps already own) golf courses that then just happen to get onto the tour schedule. I’m also curious as to how this will impact the PGA in the broader sense and what may happen to the LPGA. Looking forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts
  23. Costs are up here in the Chicago area too. But I think it’s more to cover increased costs of course maintenance and minor improvements.
  24. Hello! I’m hoping to get opinions and thoughts from the group on whether I should get a SuperSpeed or Stack System. I’m leaning towards the Stack although slightly more expensive because it seems to have a better long term training / maintenance program. But if the SuperSpeed can do the same thing for less money that’s great. If it matters my current driver swing speed averages around 87-ish based on indoor simulator. Thanks in advance!
