Someone in town was selling a used whygolf pressure plate. I grabbed it. It’s good to remind me about getting the weight forward but I think the big value will be in practicing ball below the feet lies that I really struggle with lol

day 74. Slow short swings arching the left wrist. Some good outcomes. Some open face shanks. Some poor strikes. Hopefully the wrist movement was working though.

Wish I could have joined. Hopefully next time -
Day 72. Spent a long time hitting balls into the net working on a left wrist bowed at impact. Playing around with grip, backswing, and feelings to get it there. My hands hurt 🙂

Day 71. Worked on technique into the net for a while with a lot of slow rehearsals. Something about my indoor setup is in my head and I’m not swinging well. My takeaway and backswing are off and for some reason I’m opening the face. worked on getting that under control and things settle down from there.

Went back and reviewed my rounds this year at my home course to fill out the spreadsheet. Realized I have made at least par on each hole but two that I have bogied. At my skill level, it gives me a new confidence that I can play each hole decently well and strong together a lower score. Great mental boost.

Birdied 15 at my home course today and made a birdie the other day at a course I don’t usually play. Will update the spreadsheet once I’m home on my computer.

Day 70. Played 9 at Grand Niagara. Very very windy day, but I hit the ball well for me. The wind did help me hit my longest drive ever at 282y and I did make a birdie on a par 5.

Day 69. Few mins working on standard putt length followed by impact technique practice. Got to what I think was a good place, took a 10 min break and came back but wasn’t able to repeat it.

Can Putting Distance Control Be More Systematic?
4zim replied to Seeking70s's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Lots of great info on this thread. Thanks everyone. I struggled with lag putts the other day, leaving a long second putt that too often I missed. Going to work on that standard length putt. I found this episode of the Sweet Spot had a lot of helpful info too, similar to (my interpretation) of what was shared throughout this thread. The Sweet Spot - Golf Podcast: How to Become a Better Putter w/ Preston Combs on Apple Podcasts Show The Sweet Spot - Golf Podcast, Ep How to Become a Better Putter w/ Preston Combs -... -
day 68. Technique work into the net. Lots of rehearsal and slow swings with a ball trying to understand how to achieve a flat wrist at impact. 🤷♂️

Day 67. Played my first 18 of the year. Not a great score but hit some really good shots for me. Highlights include a chip in for birdie, couple good drives, but even better for me a couple 6 iron approach shots landing on the green. Perhaps some of the practice is paying off 🙂

Fun to see a competitive Sunday leaderboard. Glad to see Viktor playing well again, especially after reading the story about him the other day where he didn’t seem to be in a great spot. Seems Joe gets him playing his best.

Day 66. Short game practice, 100y and in. Better than yesterday but a ways to go. Followed by working on impact technique. When I work on where the club ends up post impact, I seem to hit the ball much better. Feels like day to day incremental progress.

I read this story yesterday about Scottie, interesting to read something a little different than the standard coverage about him. If you have NYT or Athletic access. Scottie Scheffler’s secret: How a ‘venomous’ trash talker became the best golfer in the world Scheffler has worked to tame his inner competitive fire but those who've seen it up close have...

Chipping Versus Putting From Greenside
4zim replied to saevel25's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Fringe? Putt. Fairway or rough, I’ll usually chip but use a bump and run putting stroke. I do enjoy putting from off the green with my hybrid as well. If I putt from fairway or rough I usually find the distance control really difficult. -
Butch was on Claude Harmons podcast and talked about his work with Rory. Big thing was his wedge game and working on that swing. Interesting listen. Looking forward to this one. Agree with the above picks, although I’d like to see Fleetwood pick up a W.
