  2. Check out: The Carolina Woodlake Whispering Pines Whispering Woods Beacon Ridge Foxfire Longleaf Talamore Little River Check rates at www.golfnow.com or on the actual course website as most have posted specials. Also, check out www.sandhillsgolf.com Have fun!
  3. Shot an ugly 99 yesterday at River Ridge (6274, 69.9, 128). It was really windy, gusts to 39 and sustained over 20. It really wreaked havoc off the tee especially. On one par five, the wind was behind us and my drive split the fairway and went 340 yds, leaving me 155 to the green (made birdie). On another hole, against the wind, I was lucky to get the ball 200 yds, and you can imagine what happened after that. Very frustrating round.
  4. Does anyone know who manufactures the Maxfli balls now? I know the brand is owned by DSG/GG now. I have always been a Maxfli fan and was sad when they went to DSG, not the same Maxfli anymore. However, I do really enjoy the stand bag I bought last fall, very great quality.
  5. Can anyone give me an idea about how Sunice jackets fit, as in true to size? smaller? bigger? Particularly - I am looking at buying a Sunice Sandwick short-sleeve windshirt. I am a "husky" dude, and wear 2XL stuff. I plan ordering a 3xl size in this Sunice jacket to let me layer it over other shirts. I want to get an idea about how they fit before I order though, because I had just ordered a similar Callaway windshirt in xxxl, and it fit more like an xl, so I returned it. The Sunice one is on ebay new for $19.99, but if it doesnt fit and I have to return it, they charge a $15 restock fee, so that wouldnt be worth it. Thoughts/Prayers?
  6. Enjoying some Forty Creek Canadian Whisky with a splash of ginger tonight. Very enjoyable!
  7. Well, I ended up with the Callaway FT 08 Hybrid - 18* - Fujikura Fit-On M Stiff. Snagged it on the bay for $51. Seller claims 8 out of 10 condition. Can't wait to get it!!
  8. How about the Callaway FT Hybrid? Any feedback on this club? I can get one (used, 8 out of 10) with a Fuji Fit-On M for $50.
  9. I just bought a pair of Oakley Pro-Tye's . I wear a 14 wide, so its hard to find my size. I havent tried them on the course, but they were comfy when I wore them in the house the other day. I also have a pair of Adidas that I bought 3 yrs ago. Can't remember the model, but they are unbelieveably comfortable.
  10. All is right again in the East as the Hurricanes beat the Thrashers in OT to snag 8th place. This is where the season gets good!! LETS GO CANES!!!!
  11. whoops.... meant to say that the current 19* will be replaced.
  12. Yeah, I've never seen the Srixon in real life, but I like their products. This one has prob the best shaft of the three though, and its the cheapest. Decisions, decisions.
  13. In the market for a new hybrid. I have been playing a cheap knock-off for about 5 years that I want to replace, and I think its time for some new technology, not to mention a better fit. My current lofts: Driver - 10* 3wd - 15* Hybrid - 19* (to be replaced) 3 Iron - 21* Seems like the solution would be to go with a 18* hybrid, which would evenly space out my gaps, esp for long fairway shots and long par 3s. I would prefer a hybrid from Callaway, Titleist, Ping, Cleveland or Srixon. I am not against a used club, as my budget is $50-$100. Here are some I am considering: Cleveland 09 Launcher, w/ Fuji Fit-On (new) : $59.95 Callaway Big Bertha Diablo, w/ stock graphite (like new): $89.99 Srixon AD, w/ Graphite Design YS (used): $39.99 Thoughts?
  14. Sold my '93 Bronco that I originally had posted, and bought a '99 Isuzu Rodeo. Much nicer on the gas bill, although I do miss the big Bronco!
  15. ^ Sure thing. I worked with Jordan @ Fore-Travel. www.fore-travel.com She was a great help to us in answering questions and making sure we got the most for our money. I would heartily reccommend using her to book your trip. To be fair, another good person to use is Brian Noblin at www.golfdesk.com There are plenty of other packagers out there, but I would definitely start with Jordan or Brian. If they can't do it, no one can. As for trip timing, Mid March thru Early May and Mid Sept. thru October are the peak seasons for MB golf. Peak meaning most expensive, however you will be rewarded with the best conditions. September is on the fence. Early Sept. is more summer like, so it is cheaper, but you'll still deal with 90 degree days. Late Setember is better weather wise, but starts to become more expensive. I believe over all, the spring is most expensive. Outside of timing, it obviously depends on the package you choose.... courses, lodging, meals, etc all can drastically change the pricing regardless of the time you actually go. To start exploring, go check out www.golfholiday.com This will give you a taste. I love MB, I lived there for a few years and got to know it well. Let me know if I can help anymore!
