Those are great. The only one I remember him saying is "When the sun goes down, it's going to get dark."

Whenever I'm playing if one of my buds hits a worm burner off the tee box I always say, "Nice putt!"

After I quit cold turkey it was tough the first round I played as a non smoker. I'm still wanting to try out some cigars on the course but I'm afraid that once my body felt that sweet wonderfull feeling from the nicotine that rushes through your blood and brain I would be a full blown smoker again.

Saw a commerical for Daly Planet while I was watching Tiger's Prey (another goood show which is a 3 part series) and was cracking up. The commerical shows Daly pulling out a cig while walking the course and he says, "You know you have been out on the course a very long time if you gone through two packs of smokes." He then puts the cig in his mouth and tries to light it. After 3 or 4 tries he says, "You know you have been out on the course a very long time when your lighter won't even work." I'm looking forward to this show.

As an ex smoker who also used to smoke during a round I have no problem if someone I'm playing with chooses to smoke. I also don't care if I'm watching golf on TV and Shigeki Maruyama or John Daly or Fuzzy is smoking. I have drank on the course but at the most it was 3 beers. It doesn't happen often as I normally play at 7AM. Little bit early to be drinking. I do have golf to thank for helping me quit though. I told myself Arnold Palmer quit young and look how healthy he is today. I'm hoping I will be the same.

The two guys I play with including myself take a mulligan if we hit a bad shot. If it slices hard into the trees and no one is behind us I will tee up another. We give each one per 18. We don't play for money, we don't play in tournaments, we don't have our handicaps listed with the USGA, we are just a couple of guys hitting golf balls for fun.

It's been slow so I have been reading all I can over at USGA.org. I have played golf for 10 years and never have I read the Rule Book. Stupid, I know, but I'm going to change that. I have come across a few rules that I had no idea were even in there. Like your example of the 2 stroke penaly if you putt out with the flagstick in place. I did that last weekend and wasn't even aware it was a rule so instead of shooting 112 I really shot 114.
-
Ha ha, you know after I read the response to my first post I started thinking how many people here take mulligans. I was going to start a thread on it but decided not too. I of course take 1 mulligan every nine which I know is against the rules. Just a hypothetical, if every weekend hacker from this point on decided to follow the rule book to the T how much slower would we be talking? I think next weekend I'm going to study up on the rules and play a round to see how much of a difference it would make.

Well being a 2 handicap versus a 30 handicap I can see why you would not take advantage of the gracious drops. Take this past weekend for instance. My first shot major slice into the woods, no way I'm finding it. There are about 10 pairings behind us. I don't want to hold these people up while I tee up another shot, and probably hit it into the woods so I drive off and drop a ball in the fairway. Me and my playing partner just play for fun. We never break 100 yet we have a blast everytime.
-
Already been mentioned but myself and my partners always play ready golf. We also have no problems taking gracious drops. Say one of us hits the ball into the woods and one of us hits a great shot in the fairway, the person that knocked the ball out will just drop a ball by the one that had the shot in the fairway. That way no one behind us ever has to wait.

I thought the same thing. After the putt dropped and he was walking around thinking he halved the match and then he looked dumbfounded when he found out he had another hole. I did get a good laugh though. Since I'm a huge Vijay fan, it's hard for me to root for the Americans instead of him during his matches but all in all Saturday and Sunday was some of the best golf I have watched. Sunday my family came over when the Americans were winning almost all of the matches. We went out to eat and I Tivoed the rest thinking the Americans were going to blow the Internationals out but was shocked to see the end was so close. I was on the edge of my seat. Great stuff.

Had an awesome shot yesterday for me at least. I was playing on Hank Haney's Mckinney course and we were behind a very slow couple. We sat on the tee box for about 15 minutes on a par 3 waiting for them to finish. They were the slowest couple I have ever had the misfortune of playing behind. After they finished I teed up and was thinking I was going to hit a crappy shot as I had lost my momentum. The hole is 200 yards with a huge bunker in front of the green. I hit a beautiful 4 iron that was heading right to the middle of the green when it came up 10 feet short and landed directly in the bunker. I couldn't go up and over the wall of sand to get on the green so I had to pitch out sideways. That left me about 20 yards from the pin but off the green. I chipped it in for par. It felt great.

Ha ha that was a good one.

Had some vacation time on Tuesday so a friend and myself played Plantation . They had a special for $30 which included cart, green fees, and lunch. I had never played the course and found it pretty challenging. I shot 113, my buddy shot 115. It would have probably been higher but we took some gracious drops.

I only follow the PGA Tour. 1. Woods 2. Daly 3. O'Hair 4. Singh 5. Couples
-
Yeah I have been following his scorecard. Start the round 80th place and already in second place. -10 under for the day. Incredible.

HARHAR , you got me on that one.

I live about 10 minutes from the Hank Haney Golf Ranch. I'm thinking for my birthday in September I would like to get some lessons. I think it's $60 for an hour with a teachers assistant. Or I could go all out and spend $500 for an hour with Hank.

Golf to become a two-tier game?
Mr High Anxiety replied to StreakyPete's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I don't think that will ever happen. A couple of tournaments ago they interviewed the USGA president and he basically stated that they would never allow one ball for the pros and one for the amateurs. He said that was one great part of the game is that an amateur can go out and purchase the same equipment that the pros play with. I guess time will tell. -
Played a nine hole course on Sunday. The 7th hole was a 118 yard par 3. I seemed to be making good contact all day and was still playing the same ball I started with when I walked up the to the tee on #7. That is a rarity as I normally lose one the first couple of holes. I grabbed my nine iron, teed up, made a smooth practise swing and then let'er rip. I knew I hit it perfect as I barely felt the ball on the club face. The ball was like a rocket going higher and higher and at first I thought it was going to come up short. The ball stuck the green, bounced about a foot forward then spun back about a foot. There was almost a crater formed on the green where the ball landed. This was the first time I had ever spun a ball back and also the first time I had to use my divot fixer. I had a downhill put which I hit about 8 feet passed the hole. I drained the par put though coming back. My only par for the day. I shot 14 over on the front nine which is about average for me. My putting is killing me.

Rust covered wedges
Mr High Anxiety replied to Mr High Anxiety's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Thanks for the replies. The courses I play are pretty firm so I have decided to go with the forged vintage PW 48° 8 bounce and for the SW 56° 12 bounce. Can't wait till payday so I can pull the trigger on these. -
How could I have forgotten about that one. I remember first watching that one and thinking there is no way this is real. I had to search on the internet to make sure there were no camera tricks.
-
I'm in the market for two new wedges and had my eye on the RAC wedges but since I'm a Callaway fan I decided to take a look at their products. I'm looking at the Forged PW and SW to replace my x-12 PW. I currently do not have a sandwedge. How should I determine how much bounce in the SW. I'm also going for the steel finish which they say will rust over time and create more spin. Has anyone ever used a wedge that rusted over time and do they in fact create more spin? I have seen some pics through google image search and I'm really a fan of the rust look. I thought at first that chrome would be my choice but have decided against that.

Ha ha beaten. Yeah that one that he wrecks the camera is awesome. I remember reading about that spot and his first shot went over the camera by a couple of feet so the director asked Tiger if he could hit the camera, next shot and a very expensive camera is toast.
