I learn more from one episode of Playing with the Pros than any video or magazine article I can think of...these guys ARE that good!

It was great...a little overcast, but that made the round cooler. We plan to go in another couple of weeks and take advantage of their 36 hole special!
-
At least you finished hole...I've played with some acquaintance that give themselves 5ft gimmees !

I'll start: Cheraw High School - Cheraw, SC - Class of 1984

I hope all of you are safe while the noreaster is passing through. Hope you get on to a golf course soon!

I have one, too. I LOVE IT! The bane of my golf existence was the 4-6 ft putt...not anymore! The pendulum stroke really is helped by the weight of the putter and how it is distributed. On the longish putts 25 ft and further, I had to get used to the weight and gauging distance. I had to change my putting grip and stance, by opening up my stance (which you should to anyway on any long putts) and switched to a baseball grip vs. the overlap I use for shorter putts.

If Tiger didn't exist... Ernie Els (effortless power) Chris Dimarco (tenacious attitude) Gary Player (style and fitness - before it was the "in thing") Moe Norman (I have his grip)

Hey CG...I'm having to hit my PW and 9i more off the fairway now since the fairways on my regular course is damn hard and with very little grass. It's just easier for me to bump and run the ball on shortish pitches (50yds and below) than using my SW or a LW. I can only imagine how hard your fairways are @ 40 degrees. Basically...no shame to my game...whatever works to get the ball on th putting surface. The margin for error on hardpan or tightlies is much less on the SW/LW this time of year. My index is heading in the right direction especially with the hybrids off the tee...so I'm feeling you when you mention hitting the hybrids. Hell, the fairways are so hard anyway I'm getting A LOT of roll on my hybrids, esp. the 1i.

38 + 43 = 81 (2.5 hours/twosome - 1st off) The front nine was a dream...driving, putting, and chipping was consistent. The back nine was good too except for 3 loose long irons (2 5's and 1 6i) that ended up in 3 bunkers. All 3 were plugged lies (not fried egg - PLUGGED- it rained the day before) and 2 of them were side hill plugged lies. The two side hillers I ended up with 2 doubles (I tried to use a 9iron to tomahawk them out and they came out about a foot forward and rolled back into the sand trap) and the regular plugged lie was a bogey...talk about a buzzkill. Besides the 3 crappy bunker holes, I was happy with the game. The putting today was so satisfying...back and forth finishing toward the hole on line without any tension. The weather was overcast, very little wind, and around 70 degrees. I might have to get a hall pass from the wifey for tomorrow!

The Gary Player look...it was classy then and it still is today!

Good to have you...I'm a recent member and I've found the folks here informative and a good sounding boards for a variety of opinions. I'm 41 and it is a never ending process to get better...just have fun and enjoy your surroundings.

CG...I have the same issue with long sleeve outergear, too. I ended up buying Footjoys raingear that has short sleeves and is oversized at the arms to let you swing more freely... http://www.footjoy.com/catalog/mens....61&s;=34884&p;=1 I just wear a Footjoy longsleeve shirt w/ or w/o a sweater vest (oversized fit but tapered at the wrist) under this shortsleeve rainjacket and I am good to go in rain and cold weather...along with the golf mitts and cigar I'm toasty. It's on the pricey side, but it should last a long time based on it's quality. Like my Dad told me...you pay for quality of construction and it should last a lifetime (dress shoes, ties, suits, etc...same goes for golf attire). In the long run it may save you money.

Islandgirl...try these... http://edwinwattsgolf.resultspage.co...2&w;=golf+mitts I use the Titliest version and they really work on cold days. As far as rain gear, you can't go wrong with Footjoy outergear. Good luck.

I'm digging Adam Scott's argyle sweaters...I have a closet full of argyle sweater vests. So style up when you get a chance. I don't do it all the time, but weather and my mood dictates the style bug.

+1 on cleveland wedges.

Damn...snow in April. Today actually has sucked...raining all day, but the weekend should be beautiful again. I'm headed to World of Woods for 36holes special they have ($110) to play each of their courses. Wish you guys up North get better weather soon...
-
+1...style on the golf course is nice to see...and if that is all you have make sure you play ready golf...

CG...I don't know if this helps... With Cleveland Golf's three-bounce system, you can fine tune and dial in your wedge to suit your swing and playing conditions. The Low bounce option is an outstanding choice for shots from tight lies and firm turf conditions. The combination of less bounce and narrower sole width lowers the leading edge of the blade to promote clean contact on every shot. Perfect for players who have a shallow attack angle through impact. The Standard bounce option is the best all around wedge for playability in all types of conditions for all types of players. It is very versatile for players who like to be creative around the greens. The Standard bounce is also an excellent choice for players who like to play an open or square face out of the bunker, and who have an average to slightly steeper attack angle. The High bounce option is designed for play out of extremely soft turf conditions and bunkers. The combination of the wider flange and ample bounce angle prevent digging and create a smoother gliding action of the sole along the ground or sand. The High bounce is an excellent choice for players with extremely steep attack angles." I'm playing on harder fairways and much tighter lies than any other part of the year, so I'm looking into another Cleveland wedge that has lower bounce angle...

If I am in a group that is lagging (i.e. we aren't keeping up with the comparable sized group ahead of us) behind, I let people know on the next tee box that we should play "ready golf" from the tee to the green. 98% of the people are cool with that and still enjoy the round, but that 2% feel obligated to take as many strokes as long as it takes...pricks on the course and probably off, too. I've only had a handful of stern words with a group I joined up with and it was about letting someone play through. We were 1 1/2 holes behind the group ahead of us, but the 2 guys I joined up with didn't want the 2some through because "...they aren't going anywhere...the course is full." They didn't get it at all...

On a recent round, my buddy and I played with a scratch player and we were playing the white tees and decided to play with us. By the 9th hole he said he had to play from the back tees because he did not feel comfortable at our tees. He stated that he had to more things to think of at that shorter yardage, whereas at the back tees he could use his driver without fear of hitting into a hazard. Go figure...it didn't slow us down at all, but it does point out that sometimes a shorter hole can present a more interesting challenge some times.

I can't stand the groups that have to see each player hit their ball...ready golf damn it!

Bro...you are better man than me. I need my lightweight Titliest walking bag with twin shoulder straps for me to walk the course. I also have a 9.5 Titliest Staff bag and I find that handle side out is best to place it on the cart, but I don't loop it through the handle.

She is jonesing for a Lexus IS350 and I have a couple of questions from you car savvy forum members... 1. Looking for a 2007 model year. When is the best time of year to get one (i.e. when will the 2008 models come out so I can take advantage of 2007 inventory surplus.) 2. What time of the month and time of the day is the best to go to a dealership to strike a deal?

I can't figure slow play either...ready golf has always been a priority in my group. Honors on the tee or on the fairway is only if no one is behind us and the coure isn't packed. Also, I don't see the rationale in a slow group trying to "speed up" (i.e. rushing) and screwing up their round. If we have a faster group behind us (or a single/twosome) and if their is room ahead of us for them to advance we let them play through, so we can enjoy our round in a reasonable pace. To be honest, I have never been part of a slow group. Part of the reason we purposely tee off at the crack of dawn is to be one of the first groups off...3-3 1/2 hours is typical for our Saturday round for our foursome. We don't feel rushed and we still have the rest of the day to do other things with the family. The single hitting multiple balls and holding you up is uncalled for...the threesome later in your round will probably the same when they get to be older hackers (unless they get a lesson on etiquette by the starter). We call the starter every chance we get when we hit a backup or there is slow play coming from a particular group.

I've always been under the impression that if you are +11 and above stick to the white tees. If you are +10 to +6 go to the blue tees and +5 and below you can hit from the back tees.
