I just got the bushnell V2 and love it.. I've only got two rounds with it before the snow came but it was already a big help... Its really the best for approach shots.. Before I would hit it flush and still be thirty forty feet away becasue gps gave me center of green.. I don't know if the hunting rangefinders can lock in on the pin like my V2 so I can't comment...But you would improve greatly with a rangefiner.

If you wanna break 80 it's gonna take some good putting.. I shoot low 80's and hope to break 80 once every five rounds this year.. Every round which is not alot that I've broken 80 I get off the tee pretty good. You can't lose a tee shot OB and break 80 to often.. Iron play helps but it's the one spot you can be avg in.. The short game is where it all happens for us guys trying to break 80... you have to get up and down to have a chance..And you gotta make those 6 or 10 footers and drop at least one 20 or 30 footer... Breaking 80 does not have to be pretty is just gotta be smart golf and a little lucky... If you stay focused thru entire round and don't make doubles you can do it.. Bogey is okay on the really hard holes but you really need one or two birdies to help out..I've never broken 80 without a birdie.

I live near Boston and I'm trying to play all winter here. I've not been out in a few weeks since there's so much snow on the ground. A ball might lose some pop but I don't believe even a nice forged club with lose it's shape or pop in the cold... As for how cold can you play in.. Well as long as your still having fun it don't matter. My last round I could not put a tee in the ground and the entire ground was frozen.. I still had a fun time... Best part was the #1 handicap hole that has water in front if green.. Well it was frozen and lets just say there was no drop needed after my approach shot came up short..lol

I heard the callaways are hard to hit... With the AP2's your getting an iron that is in the bag of many many pro's.. I've read on this forum it's the #1 most played irons on the PGA tour right now.. I'm not at your level I try and break 80 and flirt with it every full round at my home course. But since I've dumped my callaway x 18's my iron play is by far best part of my game and I'm shaving strokes off my handy what seems like two a month. (snow on ground now)... Again I'm only one guy but I think these irons are by far the best I've ever played and whenever I let someone use one for a shot they hit it so pure and it puts a good flight on the ball... I think it's an iron you gotta try for a week at range and playing at least 36 holes with..If you do I'm sure you will buy them and be happy... If you buy the AP2's you will not have to worry about your iron play.

I've never owned a set of mp's but I did demo the mp 53 alot this summer... I've hit the 52 a few times at the range and I think the 53 is much much better.. It's alot softer and to me it flies much better.

Whatever you do don't sell your current irons... You can always go back to them if you don''t like your new ones. With that being said I'm a huge fan of the AP2's.. Also there CB irons are a big hit.. In the mizuno line the 63's would be good also.. Try to round in down to 2 sets of irons and demo the heck out of both..And if your having a problem with wood's then go get fitted and buy a new set of those first.. You need to have confidence in them so keep looking till you find a set you like to look at and can hit with confidence.

Keep GPS or get rangefinder
Dentman replied to clubhousehero's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Rangefinder for me hands down... Since getting the bushnell V2 am hitting many more GIR... I tried a gps but it doen't get you pin distance. You can be off 20-30 feet on every approach shot you make... I think it's much more important to get the right pin distance.. A gps is good for courses you never played before. Once your off the Tee it's really not that important. Plus I can use it at the range to really dial in my shots. -
I just started using my AP2 gap wedge this year. I never used one before so I always carried a 54 wedge. Now I'm using the 54 and 58 and dropped my 60. So it's every 4 degree for me which is a big help. I don't have to smoke my 54 in 100-110 shots and I don't have to choke down on PW.. Gap wedge is a must have for me.. I carry a driver, 3 wood and 3 rescue. I dropped my 3 iron and carry 3 wedges. 14 total clubs and I'm very happy with my distance gaps right now.. I don't hit my 3 wood on par 5's from fairway but my rescue gets me close. With the extra wedge I feel very confident laying up on any hole.

I also just got that same putter this summer. It's not gonna be as soft as the insert one but it will give you better feedback. Sometimes with an insert you can hit them short alot and also blast one long. With the scotty I'm pretty good with my distance but I can cook one by it I hit it pure. I've played around with a few grips since I like a big grip. I'm trying a smaller one (still bigger than stock) a tiger shark girp right now. I just took of the winn jumbo that was on there cuz it had little feedback when struck. This putter will be a success if you trust and believe in it. As long as you like looking over it then you will do well with it. Everytime you go to pull it out of your bag you will know you got a chance. It's not the club if you miss a putt. And that information can really help in a round. Nothing worse than a club that you don't think can hit a shot. Your freinds got you a putter that will give you a chance. To me that's all I can ask for.

This is funny that you posted because I did have this same co shave a softball bat for me.... It gets like 30 more feet of distance.. Sometimes more.. I never had a driver done but I was gonna send out my old king cobra sz 460 to see what would happen. Since I don't play any leagues or for money I can get away with it. But if I get better and wanna do some tourneys and stuff I would have to keep it in the truck and not take it out on course.

Very good advice here thanks.... I do want quick response and last thing I need to do is be playing with a toy while I'm trying to shoot a good round and not annoy people in my group or behind me. I might try my droid some more and then see what I think. I do play the same cousre most of the time since it's only few minutes from my house and I can get out free or half price most of the time. And no matter what the price I know every shot in the dark from playing it so much.

I have the HTC evo droid phone and tried a few apps on there. The free caddie one is nice for green distance but sucks my battery down. I tried the golf logix one day but it really sucked the juice out and takes to long during play to use. I'm really trying to find one that gives me good layup yardage and of course distance to pin not just the green. I do have an extra phone battery but don't know which app to use for the droid.

I'm looking to get a GPS for x mas or over winter. I've seen Callway has the go pro. And sky caddie has some new sgx model... I don't know much abut them bit I want the best. I use my eve droid phone but I'm tired of it dying on my and I wanna keep track of fairways greens and putts. So you guys got any advice on them. Thanks

Tiger stated he changed his swing from 2000 so he could further his career and last when he was older. Well now he is older and 2011 will be a huge year for him. I think the only reason he changed his swing was because him and Butch were done and Hank didn't know how to teach Butch's swing. With that being said Tiger can adapt to almost anything he wants when it comes to golf.

Ya I feel like a kid with a new bike.. What's great is that if you miss with these clubs there still not far off. I'm getting better distance than my x's and I didn't think that was possible. These irons are like a sports car they wanna be driving hard. When you go after it they respond better.
