Just purchased a new set of Mizuno MP 67 with Project X 5.5/Project Rifle shafts from eBay. I used to have AP2 710 with TT S300 and I traded that in because I just didn't like the way it look at address. The new set I got has Project X 5.5 on the 9 iron and PW. The rest are shafted with Project Rifle shafts. Can you guys explained the rationale why someone would do that?? I read that shorter irons should have stiffer shafts than of longer irons. What do you guys think??? I am about 8-10 handicapper. Usually shoots around mid to high 80s. My driver swing speed is about 91

You're going to need to be a little patient and wait for someone to come along who knows the difference between Project X and Project X Rifle shafts.

It might also help them if you say what the flex of the Project X Rifle shafts is.

Shane, I've never heard of a "Project Rifle" shaft.  If my memory serves me correctly (as I get older it doesn't always), Rifle is  manufacturer that originally made "Rifle" shafts and then later made Project X shafts.  Since then True Temper has purchased Rifle, so I don't think you will see the Rifle name unless its an older shaft.  I suspect that they are really the same shaft, but for whatever reason have a different shaft band.  Just my opinion

Oops, I think I made a bad too.  Precision is the manufacturer of both shafts.  They are distinct and different shafts, but I think they are very similar.  Unless you are a professional golfer I doubt the average joe would notice any difference.  Why someone would mix a set?  Maybe they were just trying different shafts for fun.  Or maybe he got frustrated and broke some clubs.

    • Day 35, June 8. Before leaving for work this morning (yes, I'm posting this quite late relative to the practice), I spent 15 minutes practicing at home, into a net.  This time, it was primarily 9-iron (full swings), with some UW (full and half) and a few 6-iron.
    • Day 73: just some mirror work today. Working on feels for being open and getting the front shoulder down.
    • I'm liking this. Finally getting down hands in front of my trail leg pocket consistently at A6 with much better clubhead position (relatively not as tipped out). I can really pressure the shaft through impact with good face control  from this position and stay in balance. Won my first one v one march 5&4 against a 4 hcp who routinely drives it 35-40 yards past me in the men's club match play . Frustrated him with some solid iron play and air tight putting.
    • Day 279 6-8  Worked on low point control skills work tonight. will be doing this for a few weeks. Tonight was just trying figure out how to get low point forward.  No ball.
    • Day 8 (Jun 8 26) - Stayed the drill but added two additional irons (7i, 8i and 9i) - using Divot Board and hard foam balls - focused on tempo and purposed pause at the top….noticing how open the club is marking the board when I try to kill it and how much more square (and better distance) when I focus on these keys.
