  1. Hi I´m going to purchase 2 new wedges and will be carrying 3 if I include my 50°PW. I think I will buy Cleveland GC12 with Zip grooves but I could use a second opinion about bounce and gap. What should I purchase for normal SW? Would it just be 54°wedge with standard bounce? I think I will choose standard bounce for both of them since the courses I play are very divers. If I buy a 60° lob wedge, will I than have to much gap in your opinion. Will the 58° work as well in flop shots and even better since I´m a high handicapper. All opinions appreciated. All the best, Bird
  2. Hmmmmmmmm Driving accuracy Iron game and hybrid Lower my handicap of course Only good thing going on last year was my short game. I´m a high handicapper and need to get steady.
  3. Hi Do you take divots with game improvement irons (I use Big Bertha 2004)? I’m used to fairways that are cut rather high so you could say that the ball is almost teed up. So I usually sweep the ball of the grass. Now when I went on my first golf trip, playing on really nice fairways I had no feeling for how to hit the ball. After hitting few fat shots and maybe to much into the ground behind the ball I got nervous and ended up hitting thin for the rest of my rounds. Sadly, my best shots came from the rough. Even when I thought I struck the ball well it did just not feel good and the distance was poor. Is it easier to hit trough the ball and take a divot with blade irons?
  4. Do you take a different stance compared to your normal shot? You’re talking about hitting down on the ball, do you move it back in your stance or just do your normal setup?

    Losing weight

All winter I went to the gym without loosing much weight and although I was gaining muscles I still had my beer belly. The reason was my diet. Then I stopped eating food with added sugars and I don’t eat anything with white flour in it. No pasta, no white bread no candy and so on. It really did the trick for me and I have lost 20 pounds (I’m 150) in 2 months. This is no Atkins, I still eat carbs like potato’s (not very often), oatmeal and cheerio’s. Lots of meat, fish vegetables, nuts and proteinbars and now I don’t think about getting candy or ice-cream because my blood sugar is in perfect balance. For Christmas and High Holydays I’m still going to eat something good (I’m only human).
  6. Thanks man. This has been a problem for me and I was trying to work it out in my first lesson with my instructor to day (follow through and ballance). I like the idea of closing the eyes. Nice beautiful swing and finish just like I will do it in few weeks (or years)
  7. I was going to post a similar post because I had the same experience just 1 hour ago. Yesterday I was reading the post on the slice (I have the same problem with my driver and longer clubs). I met this guy (probably 60) who is a PGA instructor. I have been watching, reading and practicing a lot and was quiet happy with my swing and saw nothing wrong with it myself (of course not). However, like for you he changed my grip, I was standing to near the ball just like you, I was sliding my right hip during my backswing so I had not much space for my arms coming down and I was not following through in the right manner. I was not facing the target with my chest when I finished my swing (did not finish my swing). I started with 6I and went to my H4 hybrid and MAN! am I the happiest guy around Of course my shots are not all going straight but when they go right they even have a slight draw. Sometimes I got loooooong beautiful draws exactly where I was aiming and that’s the first time for me. I still have a long way to go and these things don’t happen over night but least now I know what I was doing wrong. I paid the same price for this as for 10 buckets of balls on the practice range and he provided the balls during my lesson. Money well spent, Amen.
  8. Its my new Heavenwood Hybrid. Long, high and to the RIGHT. I choose my 4I over the Hybrid in most cases (unless I have endless flatness on my right). I think I have to work on my backswing, maybe I’m hitting across the ball on a steep angle (I think that’s the words, I’m from Iceland )
  9. Scientist in aquaculture, now working on a project called “Replacing fish meal and oil in Arctic charr diet – effect on growth, feed utilization and product quality”. Anyone interested ?
  10. Thanks for the replies. With my 4 iron I can be fairly long of the tee. The markings on the courses I play are not very good but I guess I shoot up to 180-200 yards with my 4I and I love it. On the other hand not very consistent from the fairways when I’m having a bad day. The hybrid is my newest club and yesterday I took it to the range (had some slicing troubles with it) and with the bad markings on the driving range it was hard for me to see how far the ball flew. But after some work on my backswing I had some good shots. At least it gave me higher ball flight than my 4I and I guess a little bit further, I still have to get use to it. If you would have a good golfer who would shoot his hybrid (4H) say, 200 yards how much further would he shoot with his 5 wood? Just give me a rough Idea. I like the Idea of getting a 5 wood and a 3 wood and just wondering what I would use my hybrid for. I don’t know why I bought it;) I don’t know if I have the time next week but I really would like to do some measurements for my average club distance. Thanks again for the replies…….
  11. Hi everyone I was just wondering what more I need in my bag. I’m fairly new to the game and have been purchasing some equipment and still have room for 2 more clubs. So let me tell you what’s in there: Big Bertha irons (4-W) Wilson x-31 SW (I would like to exchange this one for another wedge, but not a priority) Heavenwood Hybrid 4H Callaway X 460 Driver Odyssey SRT 2 ball putter What would be best to fill the gaps from my Driver to the 4 iron? Any suggestions? Greetings from Iceland, Bjarni
  12. I don’t mind people smoking on golf courses as long as they don’t leave the remains, you know what I mean. I’m trying to quit my self but enjoy smoking while playing. I know it’s a bad habit but at least I don’t throw them on the course. But for tour players, hmmmmmm...... thats another story Bird
  13. I’ve also been looking for reviews on this club but not much to find I guess. I bought the X460 instead. Was happy with the price on Callaway preowned clubs and the Big Bertha 460 isn’t there yet. All the best, Bird
  14. I’m fairly new to the sport and my first goal is to shoot constantly under 100. But its going up and down and I am very inconsistent .Best this summer was 43 (only played 9) and worst was 65 and 59 this week. I played when I was kid but have never had any instructions. All the best, Bird
