  2. I have always been of the opinion; Your score is your own. This unless you are playing for money. These people are only cheating themselves.
  3. I take at least one practice swing before every stroke. If the practice swing doesn't go as planned I take another one. I know it may annoy some that I play with, but it definitely improves my score. Many time the practice swing is bad and if I swung at the ball that way the outcome would not be good.
  4. So a course I play has a extra large green shared by two holes. This green has two cups with two flags, one for each hole. The cups and flags are set at a place where it is obvious which cup is for which hole. So it seems obvious, but how do we really know which cup is for which hole?
  5. Maybe he is just doing exactly what Callaway wants him to: Create buzz.
  6. Like I said, I understand the handicap system and understand the benefits.. I'm just mentioning that I understand the OP's thoughts on it. I do agree with the op that it seems strange from an outsiders standpoint. See above, however I haven't seen many other competitions that allow head starts or allow the mediocre to claim a victory. Again, I get it, but also understand the OP's point.
  7. I completely get at what the OP is getting at. I understand the handicapping system, but I believe his point is that either you are good or not. If you want to play for money you should be betting that you can beat the person you are betting against. If you don't think you can win don't bet. I don't play tournaments and my handicap is only calculated by my score keeping device. It is not official. I think the OP's philosophy is that it doesn't make sense for a golfer with a higher score to beat a golfer with a lower score. If you are not good enough to compete then don't, like many other sports. It doesn't really effect me and I don't know what the answer is, but I understand his thought process.
  8. I wouldn't sweat it yet. Wait to get them in your hands and see what you got before worrying.
  9. I was taking my second shot on a hole 18 par 5. The group from what I could tell was very near the green (near the clubhouse so carts were around). I hit a great 3w shot and as soon as I look up I see a cart entering the fairway right at my target zone( nowhere near the green). My ball lands close to the guy and he gives me the "look" and continues up to his group near the green. I didn't really think it was my fault as the guy came out from behind trees and the rest of his group was up on the green. They wrapped up quickly and went straight to the parking lot. I finished the hole behind and rushed out to the parking lot where they were finished loading up and driving away. I flagged them down and appologized. They guys didnt appreciate my apology so I dropped on in the grass and hit a six iron through the back window of their town car as they drove away. (kidding about the last part).
  10. I use both. I like using the scorecard for nostalgic reasons, but love the ease of tracking stats on the smartphone.
  11. As parents we can't choose what will interest our kids for the long term. I really would like my daughter(5) to take up golf as a life long passion. She has the kids set of clubs and has done group lessons, but I don't push. For activities we rotate between dance, tennis, soccer, and golf. I make an honest effort not to push her towards golf, because pushing towards can mean pushing away. I just want to make sure she is exposed and knows golf is out there waiting for her to fall in love with it. I've read some articles from sports career "experts" and some say that for a youth that sports selections should not be isolated to a single sport until 16 or 17 years of age. So my daughter will continue to play a few different sports until I can better steer her towards golf.
  12. Alright, this is somewhat off topic, but not. As I watch the video and look around :18 into it when three golfers are lined up. Look at the middle golfers grip/hand position. Is that strange to anyone else?
  13. Hole in One : 150yards with a face full of wind. 6 iron, one bounce.
  14. In addition to what everyone else said, I believe that how you "feel" about a round has much to do with your expectations. For instance take a mediocre round that you had today may have felt great if you hit that same round 3 years ago. The point being that the good "feel" target is constantly changes.
