  1. Slow and steady definitely wins the race! One of the video's I posted also had the turkish get up done while balancing a shoe. Doing things like that are EVEN better than using weights; especially for injuries that need to be slowly natured. This is an awesome little thread... I like the idea of olympic lift without weights any videos available to check out....even if it has weights in the video, just good to get an idea.
  2. That's definitely something to be very cautious about, but do completely stray from them. I would recommend working out with someone or even getting a trainer at some point specifically for your weak spots. I torn my ACL and I, very cautiously, train that leg just a little bit extra. Of course I'm not aware of what your shoulder rehab consists of, so adding these could be an overkill if you're doing a daily/weekly routine. When starting out go with Kettle Bells, or what ever you can use, that are 15lbs or even less weight than that Here is a good shoulder style swing video, as well. Also, remember that this guy in the video is doing very quickly, but for your shoulder conditioning you'd want to stick with a nice smoothly and stable pace...then slowly get into a fast more ballistic movements.
  3. You could use paint buckets or google diy sandbags since making sure you have a good handle is key with Kettle Bells. This is just two moves that you can learn - clean and then press. Another awesome movement, make sure to learn it in small segments.
  4. I really love functional workouts, personally, and have been doing it since the beginning of this season. I have seen so many positives that every aspect of my golf has improved from using just Kettle Bells. Below is a a great morning warm up that I used and now have created my own version. If you search kettle bell exercises and functional movement exercises you'll get a lot of good stuff. Edit: APrince since you have no problem cutting weight you'll have to work out what works for you with your swing. I think weight doesn't really matter much compared to flexibility/stability; as long as your body is strength is proportional you'll have an advantage with your swing.

  6. Yea, I feel the same here... but as someone with ADHD, as well. I think keeping a randomizing of your course can help with the focus while leaving a little bit up to fate :-) If you keep play the same 3 course in order that my cause a bit of "normality" to the your game which may cause some loss in focus. I live on the east coast and luckily live in an area with a TON of course per square mile, so I have a little spin wheel I made with my dad.... spin the wheel on Monday, book the course, and play on Saturday/Sunday. It keeps my brain, at least I think it does, from feeling like it's in a dull drum routine. The only routine I have in my life right now....is my pre-shot routine. Which is still not perfected, but I will be doing my best to get something I can repeat when I'm behind the ball; that may also help with your focus.
  7. Government Solutions Specialist for Contract Positions....just a fancy word for a staffing agency that works with the government specifically. My father is a Service Disabled Veteran, when I went to college I started Freelancing for staffing firms to make some quick cash - by the time I was a Junior getting my degree in Psychology I drop out. Went to work for my father and since then haven't had time to look back; nor have we had time to take a deep breath! If it wasn't for golf, I don't think I would be able to work a desk job!

  9. I am in the same boat, as Crim.... I don't know how your schools coaches are, but in my town we have a really good coach. I had a broken arm and a torn ACL most of my junior and senior year due to playing competitive paintball in high school. While I don't regret it, I wish I would have joined the team and played in High School and played in College.

I never really looked into the real hogan instructions, but have listen to all the instructors talk about his methods, and see Ben explain it himself sort of put everything I've been learning into a complete package! Thanks so much for posting that video, the way he moves with his hips in the video keeping his arms still really have "opened my eyes" Here is the video I watched that help me understand what I was missing, but it didn't really help me implement it on the course.
  12. Well if you have the money then go for it, but if there is a possibility that your swing could actually be the issue. I, personally, would check that out first; regardless you may have a club that isn't as forgiving as you really need. I'm not really sure about the dunlop's, but they shouldn't be too horrible... Then again who knows. I would say that you at least give a cheaper product a chance first before diving into the MP'59's. I'm a fan of company's like golfworks since they gave me a decent chance to swing a forged club and get really comfortable with them; minus the price. This way I can confidently buy a really nice brand name set that I want - I'm a sucker for Miura clubs, just the name reminds me of the Kill Bill Hattori Hanzo of golf clubs - and I don't have to get stuck with an expensive set that doesn't actually work for me. I have yet to buy my "custom Miura's" since there is no point with the stage that my swing is at currently. Once I get the swing down, then the club will have the honor of being swung...until then my mind see's it as a honor to swing the club, which is not a good mindset.
  13. Yea this is a really sound swing, but I do feel that for myself I would want a little bit more "bend" so I can generate more speed. Or that just might be a naive statement from a "rookie" golfer.
