  1. Yes I'm just fudging with ya it's not a BAD idea, but it just furthers the stereotype that all golfers are MEGA snobs and I've met a LOT of cool non-snobs. It would be an incentive to get better though if enforced lol.
  2. Call them fascists for infringing on your right to play the same golf course because all money is equal in the eyes of the owner.....seriously I have been behind some SLOW people, but I am patient so it doesn't really bother me.
  3. I'm in a similar situation, my new fitted clubs are coming in tomorrow I hope but they stop at AW. I will most likely need a new SW as my instructor will most likely press for, but for now I will use an older one that isn't a uniflex shaft. Also, I don't have the money for a fitted/quality lefty SW atm.
  4. I'm not at your level yet (hope to be prior to death), but everyone has a bad day and yet you still saved it from being a whole lot worse with your short game. I sometimes walk 9+ holes here in Louisiana with my bag so I feel your pain, but not everyday will go your way on the links (I've experienced that a ton so far). BUT I keep coming back for more rewarding and punishing shots that still leave me enjoying my day even IF I've self-destructed. I think that is the way you need to view your most recent outing.
  5. Have you considered using/demoing an adams a3os 16/17 degree hybrid. I have an a3os 2 hybrid 16 degree and I like it a lot. I use it as a 5 wood substitute.
  6. Being in Louisiana it really depends on the day what kind of sand there is, lately it has been damn near clay/mud.
  7. I'm not trying to hijack the OP's thread, but I havea question on what wedge I should get to fill out my set. I've just been fitted for some MX-200s 1-degree flat std length (lefty here). MizunoUSA says that the AW in the set is a 50, the PW was a 45. So should I follow 4 degree rule for my final wedge and try and find a 54 sand wedge? OR should I order the 55 SW from the mx 200 set?
  8. I really need to dedicate a lesson or two (from my instructor) to putting/chipping/lobbing as I just started.
  9. I've heard that only "older" individuals use graphite (late 50s). I prefer steel shafts (I've used graphite before) and I'm young.
  10. MX-200s are forgiving and have amazing feel to them.
  11. I joined one for the summer, as I just graduated college and am going to grad school in Houston in the fall (won't get to play much for the next 6 years), and I am enjoying it a lot. I too am a junior member and it's $150/mo for unlimited everything (carts etc). The whole facility was made by Hal Sutton so it' challenging to all levels of players and it is very well maintained (minus some of the greens due to people not repairing ball divots). I don't mind playing the same three 9s again and again as I'm new and most holes are a challenge. However, my situation is slightly different from yours as I get to play every day all day (which is great since I just started) and my coach is there too. But overall everyone there is really nice and it is a very good atmosphere. There may be the occasional snobs, but you don't have to deal with them (not many people choose to either). Since you can get in 18 after work that sounds like a great deal. Also this one I am a member of is about 25-30 minutes away from where I live (but satellite radio helps).
  12. Biomedical Graduate Student in Houston come this Fall.
  13. This has definitely made me feel a whole lot better about my driving. I still don't know whether or not I should play from the whites or the blues. At the course I play it goes gold>blue>white>ylw>red. I can get to the green almost consistently now within regulation on blues. I "think" my drive is around 250 without a roll (not sure as I'm a lefty in a podunk town that doesn't have launch monitors set up for lefties and won't do it either!!!!!!). However, my bread-and-butter has been my chipping (SW baby) and thatkeeps me around bogey atm as I just started three months ago).
  14. My best friend in college claims he loves to play golf, however, whenever I try and get him to come out and practice with me or play on an "unscheduled" day he declines. He also claims he wants to get better but with that amount of initiative it won't happen. We have the greatest of times when doing any activities together (golf the most), but it just pisses me off that when he has NOTHING to do (I know his schedule inside and out) he doesn't want to go and play golf. Instead he'll go home and watch a movie that he has seen a million times. I am guilty of taking 2-3 practice swings and the occasional "hit another", but not when there is a group breathing down our necks (lately the course(doesn't matter what rotation) has been backed up so we all do). One other thing, we're all ~22 but don't drink on the course 'cause I for one don't need the help of sucking.
  15. I prefer to walk the courses, but most of my friends don't so to "keep up the speed of pay" I will ride with them;however, I've tried to convince the stubborn ones that you can walk the course (roughly) in the same amount of time as you can ride it.
