Hello, my name is Bernie and I just got hooked on golf. Have been to a couple of the golf courses here in the Bay Area, but still gotta work on that swing. I'm here to learn more about the sport, and mostly just hang out ;) Looking forward to getting to know you guys.

Welcome! I can't remember if we've got any more Bay Area people hanging around here or not, but its nice to welcome another west-coaster. You're in for a life long treat with golf. Its one of those games that you get to constantly explore, improve, and enjoy. You have plenty of opportunity for great golf in your area as your game improves. How long have you been playing?

Hey there. I've been playing for just a little more than a month. Just got my set of irons, and am looking for a putter. I'll get my woods later since I can use my 4 or 5 iron to tee off. I hope to get my putter by this weekend, either a TM Rossa Daytona or an Odyssey White Hot. Don't really fancy the mallet type ones.

I love blade putters, but have become a mallet guy because I am way more accurate with them. I wish I were better with the Scotty Cameron I own, but unfortunately I'm not.

Yeah, you are probably better off spending some quality time with your irons before you pick up the woods... anything to keep your life simple in the early days. Consider finding a resonably priced instructor soon so that you get started with sound fundamentals. I finally got around to taking lessons and I'm having to overcome some bad habits. The lessons have helped me enjoy golf more and understand a proper swing. Consider that if you haven't already.

There's Jeff's free advice worth exactly what you paid for it.
