When I rejoined golf last fall I was completely lost on what irons to purchase and blindly got some Taylormade RAC OS 2005 because they were on sale.

I often see people on here asking about iron sets and rarely see them mentioned. Are they good irons for a reborn golfer with a developing swing?

How do they stack up against the newer irons out and would you classify these irons as GI or SGI?

Thanks for the help.

I had a set of these a couple of years back and they were pretty solid for me. I'd put them in the Game Improvement category and not SGI as they aren' super wide soled and are crazy on the tech side or materials but help get the ball up and are fairly forgiving.

I think they'd be a pretty good bet for you, especially at their price and a couple of years from now when your handicap shrinks down you'll be in a better position to see what you want more of (forgiveness, feel, workability) and get a set more tailored to your game at that point.
