i am pulling every iron i am hitting. my short game is saving me, but if i can dial in the irons it would really help my score. im hitting my drive straight as well as my woods and wedges. but im pulling all my irons. i usually hit a draw with my irons, but not like this. its just a wicked draw that usually ends up in a leftside bunker. what could i be doing wrong?

thanks

when you step up to the ball, do you think of slicing it?

I hate to slice so I think so bad of hitting it left that I close the clubface and twist my wrists on impact and It ends up wayyy left.

It could be mental too, don't think about pulling it.

no i dont think of slicing it at all. i have never sliced my irons. i have always had a slight draw on my irons. now sometimes i think of not shanking it. but not a lot. i might have the clupface closed. im not sure. i just know in the past month my small accurate draw has become an inaccurate hook.

ive been struggling with this as well. you may be gripping to firmly which is my problem. try to grip the club a little softer and see if that helps.

When I find myself pulling my irons, I focus on my hips and my swing tempo and rhythm. Usually I find that my hands are controlling too much of the shot and not letting the rest of my body work with it. If you are hitting your metals well, then I would suggest trying to imitate the tempo and rhythm of those swings on your irons and get a better feel for it. That's just me but maybe it will work for you too!

    • Day 19 - 2026-01-08 10 minutes of net work. Feeling very good about changes but need to film soon. Next few days will be indoor mirror work as we head into the mountains.
    • Day 6: 2026.01.09 Some swing work in the mirror. Need to work on home setup to be able to get more out of evenings where I can't make it to the range.
    • I would like to amend my original comment on the new Maxfli irons. Yes, $800 for forged irons is a pretty good price and they do feel good BUT...I have since found out that $800 is only for off the shelf, standard issue clubs with standard lengths, lofts, lies and shafts. Any change made from stock results in huge up-charges so that the final price ends up pretty much the same as similar forged irons from any of the major manufacturers.
    • These were almost all included on the list of Clarifications or revised Model Local Rules released just a few days ago.  I'm pretty sure the first 3 are brand new MLRs (Moved/Wrong Place, Embedded Ball in someone else's pitch mark, Internal OB applies only to tee shot) that the PGA Tour is choosing to use.  The 16.1 Rule (relief near a Putting Green) was revised allowed a Committee to give relief for more than just Immoveable Obstructions, microphone holes would be classed as GUR (a hole made by the maintenance staff).  The replacement club rule was available before, the E-3 (Lift Clean and Place distance) could have been defined as "one scorecard" before, they're just a change in how the PGA choices. Here are the January 1 Clarifications and revised MLRs https://www.usga.org/content/usga/home-page/rules-hub/clarifications-of-the-rules-of-golf.html#cp
