If anyone is like me, playing golf when it gets really hot can wreck havoc on your game when your hands sweat too much. I tried everything to keep my hands dry; rosin bags, dry towels, hand sanitizer, etc. A few years ago I figured out how to eliminate hand sweat and thought I would share. Some of you may already know this, but for those that have this problem, this could really help.

I take a small handtowel and get it wet with cold water before I start my round. Right before I pull out a club I will grip the towel with my hands. When I am ready to hit, my hands are dry (note: if it is not extremely hot, you may need to wipe off the cool water drops, if it is hot, they should dry in a few seconds). I will do this before every shot and my hands never slip on the club.

If your hands are sweating, they are warm. When you grab the wet towel it cools off your hands enough so they won't sweat, for a few minutes anyway. I will even go as far as putting the wet towel over my head between shots to cool off my head and get rid of the sweat there.

Where I live it can get into the 90's and low 100's, with humidity. So I am always looking for ways to keep cool on the course. If anyone has any other tips, please let me know.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

I like that idea...going to try it sometime. If my hands sweat too much, I would normally just wear two bad weather gloves like Tommy Two Gloves!

man that's a good complaint to have! We get that sort of humidity like once a year here!

I suppose the grips would be a factor - chord or multicompound would be beneficial. And a towel just for hands? A few spare gloves? I don't know - this is a game with which I am not familiar!

How do you carry your towel? Do you keep it in your bag? My biggest issue is what to do with a damp towel when I'm walking or riding the cart.

Grips and gloves aren't really the issue. I change grips once a year (some clubs get more than one) and I will use 5-6 gloves throughout the season to keep them fresh. It is hard to explain, but playing with sweaty hands is different than playing with wet grips.

If I walk, I will just carry the towel or wrap it around my neck to keep cool. When I need to hit, I just toss it on the ground or on top of the clubs. In the cart you can put it in the basket behind the seat, or if it is long enough, wrap it around a post. Usually though, I will put it on the 'dashboard' area where the flat spot is in front the steering wheel and behind the bottom post for the roof support. If it is damp it won't fly off. If it starts to dry out I'll get it wet at the next water jug or restroom.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.
