Recommend for a mostly beginner? I have had one set of clubs (Rams bought at local big box store, before hybrids commonly came with sets) in my 3-4 or so years of golfing. I just started playing again after back surgery over a year ago, and was wanting to add some hybrids after using my buddies. Local Sports Authority has a deal on a set, and was just looking for feedback on Tommy Armour quality, durability etc. I believe the same company used to make Tommy Armour and RAM, but not sure if still the case. Thanks for any feedback.

I was wondering about the newer Tommy Armours myself. I wondered if the newer 855s were as good as the cherished older ones. Hopefully somebody knows something more about the newer lines at Sports Authority.

Not many people playing Armours out there it seems. Ah well, might as well pick them up, they have to be better than my current set of irons.

It's just a nice regular brand club, not high priced and sold at local big box stores as you said. Good for any beginner golfer i've seen them at sportchek.

I just remember reading the 845's were a great set, and I was hoping that maybe the Tommy Armour brand was still "above average" but perhaps not.

Tommy Armour brand like Ram and Zebra were purchased by Sports Authority. Similar to the way Dicks owns Acuity and Hagen. And Golfsmith owns Snake Eyes.
