I'm going to Cape Cod next month for a week of fun and golf! I am staying at the Wequassett Resort and playing at the Cape Cod National Club one day, but we're planning on playing more. I was wondering if any of you are familiar with the area, and could reccomend other courses worth playing that won't break the bank. It's a total of $180 at CCNC and that includes a REQUIRED forecaddy for a threesome! Thanks for any advice... Nate

I grew up on the Cape but left in the 80's. Over the years I have been back to visit family and play golf at a variety of courses. There are a lot of muni that you can choose from. As far as break the bank, that's a personal choice.

I would try:

Cranberry Valley
Dennis Pines
Bass River
Highlands
Blue Rock (a par 3 course)
I learned to play on It has a few double greens which allowed me to fantasy playing at St. Andrews.

There a alot more if you want to travel into Barnstable/Sandwich. Enjoy your trip!

Cheers,
Eric

A great Muni is Olde Barnstable. Not too expensive ($60), and the course is challenging and in excellent condition.

Another one is a really fun 18 hole par 3 called Twin Brooks in Hyannis ($30). A few years ago it was rated the top par 3 on the Cape by Golf Digest. I'm usually not a fan of Par 3 courses because they are usually just a bunch of a shorter holes, but this is actually a pretty challenging course with some longer holes (longest is 215 I think) and is well maintained.

Hoping to revive this thread.  Heading to Harwich in a couple of weeks for a week long vacation.  I know about the 9 hole course in Harwich and the par 3 in Chatham.  Was wondering if anymore had any more suggestions for courses in the area in the like 30 to 40 buck range?  Thanks.

    • Day 33 (13 Dec 25) - Worked on weight shift and resetting the left heel during downswing (after listening to a discussion on Golf School this morning on PGA Tour Radio).  It centered on how Jack Nicklaus lifted his lead heel and how long driver champs do as well.  Taking cues from that discussion, worked an exaggerated feel of the left heel working doing some swing drill in the backyard using the 7i.  Wrapped up the session by hitting a few low bump and run shots in the backyard - keeping the process slow and exaggerated.

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
