I live in Pullman but just spent two weeks with my family in TN/KY, and I got to play a few rounds of golf with my brother, who's a golfer. I'm new to golf, but I had a lot of fun playing.

Looking forward to becoming a part of the community here.

I'm a WSU alum, but that was a loooong time ago. I live on the Palouse, though, and I work at WSU.

Welcome! I live in Pullman between 93 and 96 while my ex-wife was getting her masters at Wazzu. Didn't play golf back then, so I don't have any fond memories of the local courses - but how's that new course the university is building coming along?

What's in my bag:
Cleveland Hibore XLS Monster Driver
TourEdge Exotics 2,3,4 hybrid irons
Tommy Armour 845cs Silverbacks 5-PW
Assorted wedges, Ping Scottsdale Anser

The new course is almost done, and it looks great. I now see sand piled up in the bunkers, and the practice area has been open for awhile. They've built a new club house, which will be nice. The course is slated to open on 8/29. I was hoping they'd open it before 20k students came back to town, but most don't golf. It'll be flooded with people, though, so I may not play it until spring of '09. Since I'm new to golf, the Colfax course will do.

The state has spent quite a bit over the last two years of the course expansion, and it's caused some controversy on campus; however, I think a good chunk came from private donations. Of particular concern to some is the 55 million gallons of water per year it will take to keep it looking good. There's a local activist group that is sueing WSU over it, and there was an article in the Spokesman a week ago about that if you're interested.

I didn't play golf as a student, either, but I remember cross country skiing on the course in the winter. I doubt they'll let people do that on the new course.

How do you like your 60* F2?

    • I like Justin Rose and I wouldn’t mind seeing him win another major, I just didn’t want him to win this one 😃
    • I think Rose might have the most zeroed out putting stroke of anyone out there, although as golfing superpowers go that would be one of the most useless.
    • That pre-swing routine tho.. 🤓
    • He's been a top 100 golfer for almost his entire career, yeah. That's not easy to do, especially as you get into your 40s. And, all without any real "superpowers." He's not incredibly great at any one thing. He's very well rounded.
    • Always been a fan of Rose. He seems like a decent human being first of all. When there's some chatter at the tee he says "Quiet guys, please. Thank you" in a friendly tone. He's always given the impression of being a stand-up guy, supportive of his colleagues and competitors. A friendly face. His performance as a golfer is more about consistency through his entire career than the large number of wins. He's always around, but had the potential to win more. This Masters they made a point out of him having almost twice as many lead/co-lead rounds without a win than the next guy on the list. 11 wins on the PGA Tour, 11 on the European Tour and the single major, but a lot of top ten finishes. Erik's comparison to Adam Scott is on point, as the stats demonstrates in the images below. Starting their careers during the reign of Tiger didn't make things easier, but there are few players with more than 15 wins on the PGAT the last ~30 years. I only counted eight from this list. I'd love to see him win at Augusta. Rory is one of very few players I'd pick over Rose.
