I think it largely depends on where these "used" balls are coming from. I have stated in other threads that I get a lot of my golf balls used. My wife's uncle is a barber and one of his customers walks several courses and retrieves balls. He cleans them and re-sells them for $5 a dozen. He used to sell ProV1's for the same price but recently upped that to $10. He never sells ones pulled from the water. He only goes in the rough and woods. He also doesn't sell ones with scuffs or cuts. I have never had a problem with any of these balls.

My view is once I have taken a ball out of the sleeve and hit it, it's officially used.

That's the mistake most people make. They buy $15/dz. cheap distance balls, when they can get pretty good quality used high-end balls for the same or a tad more.

I like them. Then again I am a beginner, so I don't feel like I should spend alot on new balls.

$20 a dozen for AAAA quality. I like LostGolfBalls' quality, but the $10-$14 shipping ruins the good prices.

I just got 4 dozen AAAA Prov's for 72$ total, that should last me the rest of the year.

Also there really should be no fear in buying the X-Outs because Titleist puts them out themselves.
