Was on another thread talking balls and diddnt want to hijack it

Are referbished balls any good ?
Are they what they say they are ?

There was some referbished Pro v 1 going about last year that turned out to be some cheap make with a paint job ,can you trust your supplier?

From what I understand, refurbished balls and nothing more than balls that are lost at a golf tournament, which are then cleaned and resold.
Personally, I wouldnt be the least bit hesitant to give them a shot. At $30 a dozen, they are not more expensive than any of the mid-grade balls.
As far as, "you get what you pay for" goes, they are USED balls. You should pay less for them. If they cost the same as new Pro V1s, no one would buy them!

I personally would never use used golf balls. Most of them are all taken out of lakes. It can take as little as 48 hours for a golf ball to sit in water before it starts to lessen its use as a premium golf ball. Most used balls you will find are yellow (other then top flights and very hard 2 piece balls) because of two reasons, 1. They sit in water and take the color of the mud and surrounding waters and 2. They are bleached and other chemicals react with the covers.

I will continue to "waste" money on new balls. I will always know what I am getting, especially when that last hole is worth alot of money!!!

For non-tournaments, why not look at X-outs?

X-Outs usually ARE NOT what they say they are. XOuts are around a whole lot anymore, but with Titleist, the old XOUTS were HVC's and you thought they were DT90's... Alot of "referbished balls" that are repainted, are this way, They take the cheaper ball, and paint it pretty white and label it the more expensive ball.

I really doubt that as it is illegal. There is a little word for it: fraud. And you can go to prison for it.

When you have been in the business as long as I have and my family name has, yes, it DOES happen. THIS does happen, rather often too by most of those companies.

Sadly, money makes this world go round. Get used to it.

I hate the refinised balls. Tried 36 of the REload Prov's, seemed almost harder and I just didn't enjoy them.
I did buy a doz of the $30 Prov xouts and those play and "feel" just fine.

I agree that money (greed) is a driving factor in a capitalistic society such as ours. However, that doesn't make these actions any less illegal, and eventually someone will have to pay for it. Shady accounting practices can only be covered up for so long.

Ive heard good things about NXTs too. I wonder how the DT Carrys are. Youd think that with the higher trajectory that they are designed for, that they would land pretty soft and hold the green.

just to mention

golfsmith.com offers refurbished nike one blacks/platinums and titleist prov1's for 9.99 a dozen. Some might be discolored slightly or have course logo's printed on them...but overall they are great. In a dozen, you might have 2 or 3 balls that look like they've never been played...6-8 balls that look like they've played a few rounds...but are still in very good condition...and maybe 1 ball that is an x-out or labeled 'practice'. However, i've only seen a practice or x-out in 1 of about 6 dozen boxes.

Be aware of the NXT's however! This years NXT is by far better then the 05 version. All those reloads or repainted ones are most likely the OLD ones!

    • First (12 holes) round in a year, maybe the third round in five years. After prioritizing family for a long time, I’m ready to play more golf. We moved back where I grew up and started playing golf. The course is close, but only six holes and pretty short, so the longest club I bring is a 4i. It is very undulated, with a lot of elevation changes and 4/6 greens are blind shots. The long game was relatively good (relative to my game and swing). Got things to work on, but the current state is manageable. One OB. Wedges and short game was atrocious. Chunking like I was making a garden. On the worst hole I chunked a 58° approach, then chunked three chips in a row… Time to search up some chipping topics and start practicing. I’ll take this over bad long game and good short game. The short game is easier to fix. Shot a net +17(!), gross +23, over 12 holes.
    • Day 118 - Spent some time working on the full swing. Need to film some swings for Evolvr tomorrow.
    • playing with cleveland hybrid irons have friends that use hybrids anyone using hybrid irons or hybrids would appreciate fwwdback
    • I dont know if I really have a favorite, but there are two that have stuck in my mind for a very long time. #15 at Erie Golf course during the Finals of the EDGA Matchplay. Was up early and then lost a few holes in row so the match was close again. My opponent had a short putt for birdie. I hit past hole high, but 35 feet right. I drained the putt and looked over at my opponent who was in disbelief.   #8 at Whispering Woods during another year of the EDGA Matchplay. Was playing a very cocky opponent who made sure to mention on the first tee how many times he won the club championship at this course. I hammered this 30 footer that clanked off of the pin and dropped. My opponent was disgusted and that made me weirdly happy. I went on to win 5&3 or something like that, so that entire day has stayed in my memory.
    • Day 20: Did 30 minutes after getting home from work, before kid's baseball practice. This session was piecing out the new hip move in transition, doing 2-3 rehearsals from the top, and then hitting a ball from between P5/P6. Did another 45 minutes after baseball practice and dinner. Did 30 more minutes of what I did earlier, and then about 15 minutes of full swings trying to incorporate athletically.
