I run a 5K three times a week. Years ago during the marathon craze, to increase my speed I ran intervals on the road using the telephone poles as interval markers. When I was serious I'd go to the local track and run the measured distances.

Running gives me more endurance on the course. I walk the course rather than ride unless it's a scramble.

I rather like the idea of the parachute... especially on the beach. However, for me, I'd probably get caught in a cross wind, dragged across the beach and tangled in the rigging leaving me easy prey for the Orcas like those that pick off the seals. (Hmmmm, got a little carried away, didn't I?)

Thank you everyone for the advice, I am going to take bits of all this and put it to use. I would like to say that I am not trying to break records or earn medals, I have to run to keep my job and work with some great guys but I needed some outside advice on increasing speed as their recommendations did not help. Stride length has helped dramatically. today I ran a 7:00 mile which for me is decent, and I actually feel I could have done much better but did not press myself. And the phone pole sprints are a weekly addition and are def. helping.

Do use caution when changing stride length. Nearly every runner's body naturally selects their perfect stride length when running. Overstriding can lead to injury. Good info elsewhere through this thread (For what it's worth, I've raced two marathons, ten half-marathons, and about 50 or 60 races between 5K and 10K).

What's in my bag:

Driver: R5, 9.5 degree
Fairway woods: 973F

    • I wonder if that is why my home course basically have no stakes now.  Not even markers.  It’s completely up to golfers to remember what is OB and hazard and how things used to be marked.     Even in tournaments, there is no marking and certain areas are played differently by different golfers who either don’t know better or use it to their advantage funny reading thru this with courses that actually have markers
    • is it though?????? "Millions of fans"?????
    • Great post, thanks for the informaiton. I try to avoid adding salt to anything I eat. I tend to add pepper on to my meals as opposed to salt. And I am trying to eat as clean on possible. On golf day, I eat 3 eggs for breakfast (pepper NO salt) and a salad for lunch, with grilled chicken thigs (pepper, garlic, no salt). I have been trying to avoid processed food, but we all slip. I also should have mentioned that the electrolyte packet calls for mixing with 16 oz of water, however I mix in 32 oz of water, so I dilute the electrolyte powder.
    • So if I read the news correctly, the PIF will not fund LIV after this season.  LIV is trying to find new funding and a number of players there are now asking about getting back to the Tour.    I am very, very concerned that Taylor Gooch will not have a place where he can make a jackass out of himself soon
    • It is a known technique, similar to the armed forces box technique. They use a 4x4 , in through the nose and out through the mouth. I use it to go to sleep fairly often. It works for me
