I've never hit Callaway irons before but a few people I know swear out of the X series line of irons the X-14 has been the hidden gem. Anybody have a go with these? It's the Pro Series BTW (with Rifle 6.0).

Okay, played 9 holes with these today on the course. Compared to my previous set (MP32) which had Rifle 5.5, the 6.0 shaft seems to hit lower than the 5.5's. Does this sound right? I've also heard from a few people that due to Callaway's bore-thru technology it will play even slightly more stiffer. I am going to try them out tomorrow again and see for sure. Personally I don't too low a trajectory..especially if it's lower than my MP32's with 5.5's.

I will see how it goes and if it seems to be this constant lower trajectory I was planning on trying out the CW (Constant Weight) Rifle Stiff (S90).

The Rifles will play about 0.5 stiffer in a Callaway shaft. I play 6.0 in other irons, but a 5.5 in my Fusion irons, and my old X-12s.

I also used to have a set of X-14s that I used for 2-3 years. Loved 'em. I think the X-12 is the most forgiving iron in the whole X series, but the X-14 was the best mix of forgiveness, playability and looks. The Pro Series also have the cool "polished smoke" finish. All told, the X-14s (regular and pro) are the best-selling irons in the history of the game (ahead of the Ping Eye2s and X-12s).

Keep us posted on how they work for you.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

Played last weekend with them and they were great. One thing I noticed was the ball seemed to jump off the face but did lack a little feel compared to my previous set, MP32. It had a trampoline like feel but super fun and seemed to go a little further. I was hitting 130 yd shots with the PW, this would be a 9 iron, with me, when I had the MP32's.

The trajectory is lower than the MP32's. I went to compare lofts between the two sets on their sites and it turns out that the X-14's are stronger in loft throughout the set compared to the MP32..thus probably the lower trajectory.
