I am a high ball hitter and would like to know if new shafts in my irons would help me lower my ball flight. My irons are Mizuno MX-25's W/ the original dynalite gold S300 shafts. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your answer. I have read that I would lose some spin on the ball with the Project X's. Is this true or will I still be able to stop the ball quickly?

I have project x in my mp57... when they hit the green... the dont move. If you want to lower your ball flight... dont get the flighted version.

By design, the Dynalite Gold is a high ball flight shaft. If you are comfortable with the S-300 flex, you may want to try the original Dynamic Gold in the same flex. It is designed for a lower flight. It will be a little heavier, but it should lower the flight. Plus, it should be easy to find a demo or a friend that has this shaft that you can try. If you prefer a lighter shaft then try the Dynamic Gold SL. The Project X is another option, but in my opinon, it is completely different than hitting a Dynamic Gold. I didn't like it, but many people do.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

Hmmm, you may want to get you club lofts checked. If you are approx. 6' or taller you will normally hit a high ball. I have PX 5.0's in my Mizuno's and really like em, of course I like my Black Golds and my DG 300 R's--all have been spined. The KB tours mite help; they were designed by the same guy who designed the PX shaft. They are a little softer in the butt and a little stiffer in the tip. I don't have a problem with the ball sitting down on the green from >150 out, but I'm 6'2" so thats my normal shot.

    • They sure do. 158 with an 8 iron is on the high end for me
    • Went back to controlling my knees. That part was getting a bit sloppy when I worked on my backswing. Right hip didn't slide or gain internal rotation. I would just rotate back and around and the left knee would be in a bad spot. Really focusing now on keeping my left knee very stable and straighter in the backswing. I can't go back to the old pattern of overturning the hips. I was returning to my old pattern to time my downswing. Turn forever.  Left knee controls both knees and hips, acting as an anchor. Feel like it straightens a bit.   Hinge sooner and faster. Not in a way that sends the hands out and flips the club over. I still noticed when the hands get to A2.5, the hands would want to flip over and flatten the club out a ton.  Still trying to figure out how to roll the forearms a bit open and not just roll the club inside a ton.  Figure out the timing to get the hands down. Still getting a bit of right elbow collapsing in the downswing because the arms are too high when I turn. Everything is happening sooner now. If the hips are controlled, the backswing is shortened. Because it is shortened I don't know when to get the hands down and I just turn because the downswing is a go.  Very slow (50%) swings are decent.
    • Distances look fine, no?
    • Day 207-12 Wider backswing and arm reconnecting in downswing. Did a much better job with proper wrist movements through downswing today.
