Fake Callaways

That's why Piracy is a $ Billion enterprise. If they only made crap clones, no one would buy. I've been to China on business a few times, and you should have seen the knock-off's. Look authentic alright, but they were all counterfeit. Few of my buddies bought them, and then watched the club heads outdistance their balls within five rounds. Others have had their knockoff sets for a few years with no issues (many factors at play: swing speed, aggressive play, frequency of play, how well the clones were made,...)

Tell me about it! I've also been to China and saw the same thing. They pirate everything from music to Levi jeans to game consoles.... and of course golf clubs.

Actually, my brother is a special agent for I.C.E. I've heard a few stories already... I would like to add one thing... If you, or anyone you know is currently selling fake golf clubs... in any way shape or form... I suggest you cease IMMEDIATELY! (this is a little inside info here)

I would agree, too. The authentic Callaway have a curvier design on the inside of the cavity. Also, the real Callaway's have a black line around the insde, too. These don't. The cavity is also cut differently on the authentics and they have a stamp on the hosel. These don't.

Simple solution - have your bud take his clubs to an authorized Callaway dealer for authentication. Issue resolved. Case closed.

Does Callaway put serial numbers on their clubs? Call their customer service, they go way beyond normal customer service to make sure you are happy.

If the club is a driver, or a wood, or a hybrid it should have a serial number on the hosel. For iron sets the 8-iron will have a serial number on it.

You can check with Callaway to verify the S/N

First off, I DO NOT want them to be fake. He is my best friend and my league partner.

Like other said, call Callaway and give them the s/n on the 8 iron. They're very accomodating and will let you know quickly.

On a side note: If he advertised they were Callaways, and I'm assuming he did since you posted his prices for the prize, and they are verified fakes by Callaway, you have rights to legal action against him for authentic Callaway's at the price he advertised, not used. Additionally, you said they look used, used X-20's don't sell for $900. Get your friend some new Callaway's from him and teach him a lesson.
