Hi all,

I'm thinking steel shafts when I eventually replace my terrible and old irons with a new set. I've been seeing a lot of discussions about what kind of shaft produces what kind of ball flight, so I'd like to know how steel compares to most graphite shafts in this regard. I know steel is generally stiffer and nearly always heavier, both of which sound like a plus to me since I have ample strength and a fast swing speed.

But do most steel shafts promote a lower, or higher ball flight (vs most graphite)? What other factors are influenced by shaft material? I am definitely going to get fitted before ordering the new clubs, but I wanted to learn more about the differences between steel and various graphite shafts first anyway.

Surely someone on here knows the answers to some of these questions.

Search feature is your friend:

Good luck with the selection!
