i have a ping g10 10.5 driver with the stock tfc 129 shaft regular flex and think i want to re-shaft it because the ball seems to fly really high with a ton of backspin and then drop out of the sky a.k.a ballooning. the ust v2 sounds like its a great shaft and a good deal for the money and the specs make it seem like it would do what i want it to which is lower the flight and make it more penetrating.

swing stats

92 ss
med fast tempo
235 carry

any and all help is appreciated

the v2 would be a good shaft to go with. it has a medium trajectory and not much torque at the tip. i played a the v2 highlaunch for a long time in my 905R and it was a great shaft but it was a little to whippy at the bottom so i got rid of it. I now play a g10 10.5 also and swear by the orange ping shaft. my driving average was 285 and i was hitting the ball on a mid trajectory in my highschool's regional tournament yesterday so my situation might be a little bit different then yours. i reccomend the regular flex v2 because with your swing speed and distance it will likely suit you better than a stiff

With a 92 SS, you are borderline for a Stiff Shaft. It's all a matter of personal preference, I demoed the same driver as mine with a stiff shaft, and I really didn't like the stiff feel because It had no whip in it. I guess I'm not used to it, but I really like to feel the shaft bending.

You seemed to have answered your own question. A UST V2 seems to fit your specs and what your looking for.

It will for sure vary and you will probably not get an extremely lopsided answer. Alot with the same SS play a regular and the same ammount will go with a stiff, its all preference. most prefer the whippiest shaft they can get, while others do not like the whip.

You can't really compare what you want to other golfers on the forum, they all like different things and following one of their decisions won't help you. Of course you can get recommendations and go from there but like it's been said before and like it will be said again, go out and try them both.

If you're looking for maximum control go with the stiff. If you're more concerned with distance keep the regular. I play a ss of about 105-110 and use a X-stiff.

the prolaunch red didn't feel very good to me. i just didn't get that nice soft yet solid feel that i like in a driver. it felt like i was hitting a brick. if you were to get a graffalloy shaft, i reccomend the blue from personal experience. i had that shaft in an old callaway driver i used to play and absolutely loved it. i am considering going back to that shaft also in my g10

I have the G10 10.5 with pro launch red and I really like. Mine is regular flex and my SS is a little faster than yours. It's a good shaft. Good luck

I'm a low 90s in swing speed. I launch the ball on a mid trajectory with my 12* Ping G5. I carry about 210 on average. I probably hit level with the driver (not on the upswing), but I don't mind hitting a little low. I lose a little on carry distance but not really on overall distance. Total distance is 240+ on a flat hole. I’ve got two playing partners and one hits a very high draw and one a very high cut shot. Problem is, when they really nut one, the ball hangs for so long the draw becomes a hook and the cut becomes a slice. I know carry distance is where it supposed to be at, but for those reasons I like to hit a little lower and get that ball running in the short grass.

I'm playing the Proforce v2 65 stiff. This is probably a little too stiff for me according to the charts, but I like the feedback and feel of the shaft. I can't say that I really feel it "flex" during the swing, but I have a slow smooth tempo and would probably not load this shaft a ton anyway. What I do have with this shaft is a ton of control, more than any other stock shaft I've tried. The feedback seems about the same as a Graffaloy blue but I get one hell of a first kick on landing. It seems I always get 30 and sometimes as much as 40+ yards after landing. I'm sold on this shaft, especially for the price. With your swing speed and tempo, especially if you want to get the trajectory down a touch, I would strongly recommend at least trying it. If you lose a couple yards in carry, I bet you will see a much greater increase in total distance.

Good luck!

From what I have read on some Long Drive websites it is a more "parobolic" flex. So from what I can gather it is more for a smoother swing with not really a kickpoint (high, low, mid).

I had one in a driver (an x flex) and did not like it, I hit the ball high and with a fade and a weak slice a lot of times. Now my 11 year old son has a V2 (A flex) in his Nickent 3DX Tour Square and absolutley kills it ( he has an 82mph swing speed, and knocks it out there on average 200, on center hits I have measured him on the skycaddy at 220-230). He is a good junior golfer in his age group and usually finishes in the top 4. That shaft has given him extra yards, no doubt.

So in my uneducated opinion if you have a lag in your swing and explode at impact it might not work for you too well, again ....my uneducated opinion.
