I have found these tips shave strokes off my game.

1) Easy chipping around the green
feet together with a slight open stance ball 2 feet behind my back foot with the weight 60-80% on my front foot and hands low. This will ensure a solid contact everytime. You can vary the distance back of your rear foot and practice with different clubs for height and roll out. I saw this on TV with Annika's helpful tip and I tried it on the course the next day and got up and down 70% of the time vs my usual 40%.

2) Just off the green putting
When I find myself just a foot or 2 off the green and I can putt, I will take my putter and when I set up I will not take a forward press with the putter but just do the opposite and have the putter slightly lofted. This will help get the putter skipping on the top of the blades of grass instead of into and slow redirect the ball direction.

What tips can you share with us that you learned and has help save strokes during your round?

Tip for chipping that has given me a much better scrambling ratio:

Fly the ball two thirds and let it roll one third. Practice with a club that can give you this result consistently.

For the mid-high handicappers:
Try to keep chip shots as low to the ground as possible. You can achive this by using a putting stroke with an 8 or 9 iron & slightly back in the stance.

Two many high handicappers think they are Phil Mickelson and try the most difficult flop and splash shots - Far two much can go wrong with the 60 deg wedge, use it only when you need to chip over a trap or like. This will elliminate the major thins and sclaffs.

This has worked wonders for my scrambling.

    • Interesting changes. The idea of relegation and promotion have always been there in a different form (getting and losing your card etc and qualifying for bigger events) but it looks like they want to define it better for top tier events. The Tour has always had A and B level events (and even lower). It will be interesting what they choose as the Challenger Series events and whether some tournaments go to the Challenger Series that used to be prestigious. Not sure how the networks will take to this knowing they have “Challenger” Series events defined that way now. Also, I’m not happy that John Henry and Theo Epstein are involved. Look what Henry has done to the Red Sox.

    • I have been debating getting a launch monitor of some sort, if only so I can re-figure my shot zones (I haven't actually mapped them in years) and also to practice distance wedges at home.  I have to see if this works with either my current setup, or what my setup would be if I move it to the garage.
