Is this a good deal on G5 irons?

I am considering a set of used G5 irons at my local golf shop. They are orange dot (2* flat) regular flex steel shafts (stock Ping) 5-Pw, Aw, & Sw. That's 8 irons. The 5 iron has been shortened 1/4" and the PW as well (don’t know why). I've glanced them over once, not knowing how cheap they were, and they are in very good condition. I'll give Ping one thing, unless you absolutely dog their irons they stay in good shape in the bag. They were fitted for a 14 year old boy who has now outgrown them. The kid has them on consignment and only wants..... $150 !!

I do need regular flex, and with a relatively flat swing and 5'9" in height I've played red dots before and didn't see much difference if any. So I don't think the orange dot would be too flat for me. Anyway, I'm going to check these out in a few hours before the store closes. I'm tempted to buy them on the spot without hitting them. The weather here is tooo cold to hit (29* and snow flurries). The weather is not set to break until Sunday (48*) and I don't want to pass on a good set off shovel irons. I hate to move back from players irons but at this price, I'm thinking' I could use a little game improvement.

In your opinions, assuming I like what the irons do for my game, should I buy or not buy. And how hard would it be to get the specs tweaked should I decide I need to later?

i would go for it if you want it, i mean.. only 150 thats a really good deal. Also if you hit them for a session and realize you dont like them that much, then you can always resell for 150 or maybe even higher

Get them, if you dont like them you can probably sell them for like $300 or something like that.

However, ask them if they will break up the set, i never could get a liking for ping wedges, and seeing you are a vokey guy, i doubt you will either. see if they will sell for maybe, 100, jus the 5-PW.
