Generally 50* is my limit, without rain. On the rare occassion I have found myself on the course in implorable conditions, where the course is pretty much empty, I dont keep score, instead taking the opportunity to hit several shots from the same spots and practice on ball flight, shaping shots, etc. I love having the time to play like that for the entire 18 holes, some of the best practice you can get.

I've gone to the driving range at -15C, but that's because no courses are open in the winter in Canada.

The guy is usually play with, and myself, ventured out one morning it was 25, and the high was going to be around 30.

I parred the first 3 holes, but he didn't dress warm enough and thought he was getting frostbite (probably would have).

So we left....

Man after reading some of these post I feel like a big sissy. I usually dont play if its below 50. And I really dont like to play when its below 55 and windy but that still allows me to play 3 or 4 times a week all winter long. If it gets cold here it will get into the 30s for a day or two then warm back up. I guess I would change my tune if it stayed colder throughout the winter but I truly cant imagine playing in the 30s......yall are tough as nails.

Dude I'm from just across the lake from you and if it would either stop raining or snowing long enough to get out, I would! I'm not a professed cold weather nut but however I've played in temps you just described and I am a golf freak as my mothe in law calls me and I would have played in those temps too, sh@t! why not?

I grew up in Florida. I used to have a 60*/90* rule. I wouldn't play above or below those numbers. Now for hot weather, I have no limit. For cold it depends on the sun. I'd say 40* is minimum if the sun is shining.

Hah, welcome to it then! 40 ya say not likley to see it for another 4 weeks or so I bet this winter is just killen ya idden it, what ya doin up her any way what are ya crazy.

I will venture out in 40 degree weather in the morning if it's supposed to warm up quickly into the 50's. If the day's high is only supposed to be 50, count me out. I don't play golf if the elements won't allow me to enjoy it.

Was going to start a new thread, but then found this one...

I played in 3 Celcius (37 F) on Sunday morning. Was 1 over through 5. Then the blizzard came. By the 9th green, I was putting through an inch of snow, causing my ball to careen all over the place...

Still shot 41 after I bogeyed out during the blizzard!

During college days we played till Mid November .. I remember many 20 - 30 degree days playing.

Played in a tournament in college once at Saginaw Valley State, it was late october I think, when we got to the course it was about 40, windy, and cloudy. It started to rain sideways on the first tee. I then saw an umbrella race across the fairway unattended.

By the 5th hole the rain turned to sleet.

By the 9th hole I was putting through a light layer of snow.

By the 18th hole it was sunny, no wind, and about 45 degrees.

Shot 81 that day, low for the day was 78 by anybody on the course.

Next day, 65 degrees and sunny. Shot 75. LOL.

    • The highlights as I see them: Championship and Challenger Series The creation of the PGA Tour and the PGB Tour, in the words of Joel Dahmen a few years ago. They're calling them the Championship Series (23-24 events) and the Challenger Series (20+ events). Both run February to August. They feel this will achieve three things: increasing the consistency and quality of fields across the season creating a clear system for players to earn and retain status and delivering a more structured and competitive experience for fans and partners—all in an effort to strengthen meritocracy. Championship Series Structure and Eligibility The 23-24 events includes the Players, majors, season-ending events, and the Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup. These will be 72-hole events with a 36-hole cut to the top 65 and ties and purses of $20M+. 120 players without an alternate list. 90 players (roughly) from the previous year and 20 players promoted from the Challenger Series. Full eligibility will be finalized later this year. Sites (cities) to be finalized soon, but 10 of the 15 courses have already been determined. Postseason: includes retention and relegation and concludes with match play. The Tour Championship will also be played across a rotation of prestigious courses. Challenger Series Structure and Eligibility 20+ events. Running concurrently. Will feature players fighting their way back to the Championship Series or players graduating and on the upswing from the Korn Ferry Tour. Many of these events will be current PGA Tour courses. About 7 of the Challenger Series events will be during off weeks for the Championship Series with elevated purses and visibility. Purses of at least $4M, with cuts similar to the Champ series. 144 player fields. Competitive Fields for Both Series Players will be eligible for only one series at a time: Championship Series Players are not eligible for Challenger Series events. Championship Series members will have a known schedule with all events having the same eligibility. Players and Majors will have their own eligibility criteria. Championship Series players don't have to play all events. This begs the question about, say, the Canadian Open, and other "home-town" events that players might want to play, even if they're Challenger Series events. Will releases be granted? Promotion and Relegation At least 90 players will be retained in the Championship Series, and 20 players will be promoted from the Challenger Series each year. Battlefield promotion for two-time winners from the Challenger Series. Players relegated from the Championship Series will have a "last chance" opportunity to retain status, or will go to the Challenger Series. Criteria will be finalized before the start of the 2027 season. Points System New points system (not FedExCup points). Separate points systems for the Championship and Challenger Series. Elevated points in the Challenger Series for off-weeks on the Championship Series. More details tk. Elevated International Events in the Fall The fall schedule will include a limited series of elevated international events with top players from the Championship Series, with the intent to deliver in partnership with the DP World Tour as part of the Strategic Alliance. Last Chance Series The Tour will develop a “last chance” series of 4-6 events in the fall, with a limited number of spots on the Championship Series available for top finishers. Eligibility will include players relegated from the Championship Series, Challenger Series players, and other categories to be determined. Q-School continues, as do the Korn Ferry Tour and PGA Tour Latinoamerica. Also, Brian Rolapp is the new commissioner as of January 1, 2027.

    • Yes, because you have lifted to like 120° without bending the left elbow. So when you turn and the left elbow bends… it bends in such a way that you then lower your left humerus and pull the club around you.
