Greetings, The Sand Trap!

My name's Will, and I play for the Varsity team at Niskayuna High School in Niskayuna, New York... We had a subpar team last year, but one of our members was I think, second in states. I normally shoot in the high 30s for my rounds in school matches (9 holes) and want to get to states next year. In the summer I play in the North Eastern New York Jr. PGA Tour which has seven events which all allow my game to grow and for me to experience more competition.

As a graduate of high school 2 years ago and a 4 year varsity letter on the golf team I would have to say to go to the range a lot. It may be boring to you now, but it will help your game immensely. Also working on your short game will help you get to state b/c I guarantee the kids that make it in the top 10 at state you will need to get up and down 95 percent of the time. What year are you in high school?

I'm a junior now, and I LOVE practicing my short game! For at least an hour or more I practice chipping and pitching in my backyard. And when I get to the range I usually spend about an hour or more practicing on the greens after I hit balls.

That is very good that you love practicing because most people can't stand it. I am getting to the point where I see the benefits to practice, but it took me a while ;).
