I've been googling around trying to find out if Mizuno will be releasing new wedges this year. According to the PGA.com value guide, the current wedges were released in 2007? and the previous series in 2005. If that is true, it looks like there would be a series coming this year. Plus they have released new irons, drivers, hybrids and fairway woods.

Does anybody know the inside scoop? I'm probably going to replace my Vokeys with MP-Ts in chrome. I would just hate to buy a set this month and a new model come out in a few months. I know Mizuno isn't known for their ultra zippy grooves (which is neither here nor there with me), but I also thought they might be releasing a set before the manufacturing cutoff on the groove change.

Anybody heard anything? Thanks!

How come you want the chrome? I found a Mizuno chrome wedge on the 2nd green at my home course, picked it up, looked down at it from address and was blinded.

If you like the MP-T.. Please go try the MP series.. I really thought i liked the MP-T and then i tried the MP Series and was blown away.

As for new wedges, i have not heard much around WRX, so i wouldnt say that they are any time soon..

Thanx for that input Lax. To be honest, I was always a little confused between the two lines. I would like to find a Mizuno wedge that looks at address like the Vokeys. I've really become accustomed to that look. My Callaway X-Forged seems to be along those lines. I thought the "T" designation was for a "teardrop" design, which I thought the Vokeys were. To be quite honest, I'm still confused on that one.

What did you find was the difference in the MP and MP-T series? And I guess I should also ask, by MP do you mean the MP-R? Too many options haha. Gotta find the right ones.

Funny, Ive got 3 chrome Mizuno wedges and have never been blinded by any of them, even on open-faced flop shots.

The difference is looks, nothing more. In terms of performance or spin, there is no difference.

I agree. You should see a groove change in the near future, but nothing else. Mizuno already has some of the best wedges on the market and its almost impossible to improve on a classic design like a teardrop wedge. I dont see Mizuno going radical, thats really not their style. They are more all about great craftsmanship, soft feel and classic designs with smooth lines.

Same here. I have never been blinded by the reflection off of any club. I'm not saying it can't happen, but it's never happened to me. Besides, Mizuno's chrome finish is kind of a matte or brushed finish, not a polished mirror-like finish (at least on my clubs).

Same here. Like I said, all of my wedges are chrome and glare has never been an issue.

I think he means the original MP wedges (2006?), they were just designated MP (without the R and the T). I don't know much about them, but you can do a search and find lots of info on it.

Thanks for that input. My local, smalltown golf store actually still has a couple of those in new, old stock. If he's had them this long, I bet I could get them for a song. These are the ones with the blue lettering not the yellow lettering (not the Mizuno logo/name, but the other stuff).

Hmm...interesting. I should go see if there are any at my local golf shop.

Yes, i am referring to the MP Series. different than the MP T/R (which are the same wedge, different shape)

I really like the MP series.. They are not overly spinny, but you can zip em if you want to. pretty responsive, you can dig em, bounce em, and the feel is what you would expect from mizuno.. so those chips around the green come out well even if you mis hit it. Gorgeous clubs that i think go underrated.

I know i picked up two of em for a grand total of 45 bucks. If you have a Golf galaxy near you, they should be going for about 18 bucks there..

Definetly worth a shot. Buy one to give it a run, i have a 56 here that i am gonna get rid of if you want to try it.

As for the T/R, i have had a few of them, 47, 53, 60.. And none of them felt quite as responsive or effortless as the Series does. This is my personal taste, but after hitting the MP Series, i will never go back to the T/R.

These are my feelings, let me know if you have any other questions.

    • Day 23: weird day, and only had a little bit of time. Just did mirror work again, working on where the elbow is in the downswing
    • I flipped over to this tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. Anyone else watch? I picked it up during the golf relay event, but seeing these pros out having fun in alternative events was refreshing and entertaining. I’m sure it will be on in reruns in the next week or so, so I won’t spoil the outcome. Im curious what others thought of it. I’m recording it’s later airing to see the beginning.
    • Day 443 - 2025-12-17 Made a few swings in testing some things out at another academy. Might pop up on someone else's podcast in a few weeks.
    • Day 37 (17 Dec 25) - nine hole round with my good friend.  We got paired up with a couple of the men’s group regulars as part of their shootout.  Started off with a wonderful quad bogie and then a dbl on three to be six over thru three holes.  Game went 180° over the next five as I shot one under (including a chip in birdie on hole six and four up and down 1 putt pars) for a net finish of five over. What could have been a really tough nine became a solid finish due to staying in the moment and not checking out.  Great day in course management and keeping perspective .
    • Day 127 12-17 Backswing and flow practice. Took advantage of the 60 degeee weather(it was 20 degrees Sunday)
