I've never had my handicap figured, so I took a guess on my avatar. I don't know the ratings to plug into the calculator, but I'm around a 90 average. Anyone got some kind or range or guess at a ~number?

^^^ That's right. If you have an old score card of your course, it should have the rating and slope on those cards. Rating will be a number close to par and will probably have a number to the tenths. For example 71.6, 68.5, etc. The other number will be slope. You will need those two numbers to accurately figure your handicap. Once you have enough scores you need to be aware of equitable stroke control....Lord knows I am A little googling will better inform you on that.

Yeah there is a whole formula and a system for figuring your handicap. I do mine in excel. If you want the file I can e-mail it to you. You will need your last 20 scores for it to work though.

The rough answer is take your 10 best rounds and then find the average score for those rounds. That's the way oversimplified way to do that. Slope and rating makes it more precise but this is a good start.

If you don't want to do the math. Do what I did. Pay $20 bucks at a golf course. You get a GHIN number. You can then log on to the net with your score and BAM! You've got an official handicap. I now carry a 30.8 and getting better

That's me right there! Official all the way. Then you can really start tracking your progress, for better or worse.

Lots of factors as others have mentioned, but if you average 90, I'll guess that your handicap will probably be around 15-17.

Only your better scores are used to calculate the handicap.

I would go as far as 13-17

There are only about a million free handicap calculators out there.

    • Wow that was disingenuous. Like, let’s ignore that golfers actually rotate. It isn’t all side bend. Has incorrect or excessive side bend hurt golfers sure. In no way are golfers taught to just fling their hips towards the target. To basically claim it’s him versus this evil golf instruction industry is just disingenuous.

    • I'm starting to move with some speed and confidence. Carried the fairway bunker 225 yards out on the 17th yesterday fairly comfortably. I don't think it was a one off drive either. Pretty much back to game speed. On another note it doesn't seem like my pelvis is nearly as thrusty compared to a this time last year. I hope I'm judging that correctly. It's an ongoing battle.
