I spent the winter practicing more than I ever have. I ended my golf season with my best round ever (84) and was focused on getting better this year. I was able to get out on Friday (68 degrees in Chicago!) and played a round with some friends. We played a 2 on 2 scramble, and I was a severe liability to my teammate. We didn't use one of my shots until the 5th hole. We did make a comeback but in the end lost by 5. My short game felt good, I made some nice putts and had a few good chips, but my irons and driver were brutal.

I'm not sure how to respond to this, suggestions?

Play a few more rounds before starting to worry. Honestly, I'm so inconsistent to start the season, especially if I've been hitting off mats all winter. You could just be off.

I know what you mean. I played today, first time since november. I could not hit my irons well. I was hitting thin, fat, hook, slice...you name it. This could be because i got my irons less than a week ago, and they are not nearly as forgiving as my old ones, but this could also mean that i am just a little rusty. There is no doubt that hitting off mats all winter made me a little sloppy with my ball striking today. I need my irons to be adjusted to 1.5* flat, so that could also be a problem because i was making contact with the toe all day. What i am goin gto do is mix my irons first, and then get back into the groove of things. I hope to see my ame turn around within my first 5 rounds.
