Something I've always wondered is why player's irons have a square toe and game improvement or SGI irons have a round toe. Is it purely asthetic, or does it serve a purpose?

This is just a shot in the dark, but....

I'm guessing most older model irons had a square toe. When catering to the "player's" market, companies have continued that look. I would guess the idea was that good players would have been playing for a while and thus exposed to, and more comfortable with, that look. As for the GI irons, the rounder look helps hide the oversized heads to some extent. That's just a personal theory. It will be interesting to see everyone else's take on the subject.
