I always use a tee except in very particular circumstances. When using a tee for irons, the ball is just barely teed above ground level. With hybrids it's higher; woods higher still; and driver about 1 inch or so (I tee it much lower with driver than most do). The one circumstance where I do not use a tee is if it's a short par 3 (PW or less distance) I may not use a tee, but it depends on how I have hit wedges that day. Sometimes it's easy to hit the wedge too low below the ball when it's on tee, resulting in a ball coming up too short or catching fat or the opposite happens and I catch it thin.

Always tee up. People spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars getting the right clubs that will give them an edge, so why not take the advantage of a perfect lie when you can for free?

If you'd made a poll, I wouldn't be surprised if >95% tee it up.
